GAHAHAHA! "Cable boxes that track and watch what you do and listen to you with a microphone. The problem in this case is that there's so much misinformation surrounding this film (at least as much as is inside it, to be fair), that it's just not possible to form a sound opinion of it (the film, not the guy) without seeing it. Cphilip's first comment is a good example of this--the claim that the 9/11 commission has substantively disproved *everything* in this film is confusing to anyone that has actually seen it. The title notwithstanding, about fifteen to twenty minutes is devoted to 9/11, IIRC. About as much time is spent on the 2000 election, the relationship between the Saudis and Bush, and the Patriot Act. The real meat of the film concerns the Iraq war, its justification, and its consequences.
You'd know this if you had seen the movie. You wouldn't if you were just parroting what you heard on Fox News.

The sinple truth is that you can't fall back on "if you didn't see the movie you don't know". If that was the case, we can say if you didn't see Hitler and his people kill all those Jews it didn't happen and you are only parrotting what others have said.
More so, you might as well say if you have never shot up with heroin you don't know its affects and should not speak out againts it... no matter how much data is avaiable on the matter.
This is not an issue of people who know Moore mislead and lied in his film simply saying so because they don't like him... but because it is all well documented.Comment

It should be confusing because you should wonder why a Documentary would lie and decieve to start its basic premise the leads to the rest of the Documentary. Without those legs to stand on it all falls apart. It goes to credibility of the whole. And so much of its discredited that the whole rest of it is totaly useless.Originally posted by spantolCphilip's first comment is a good example of this--the claim that the 9/11 commission has substantively disproved *everything* in this film is confusing to anyone that has actually seen the film.Comment

All the benefits of having a dialogue, without having to feel dirty for supporting Moore.

And so Moore can have $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ x millions..

You know whats funny. Michael Moore is actually republican. All you guys thinkin he is on the left are dead wrong. But I do agree that this movie is a personal attack on our president and it is a travesty that he does a documentary that doesnt show the whole truth. When I go to the movies I dont expect to see historical accuracy, but in a documentary I do. This is the problem that I have with moores movie.

I'm sorry, but this assertion really bugs me. In case anyone wasn't paying attention in the late fall of 2000, the President of the USA is chosen by the Electoral College, not by popular vote. The Electoral College in each state traditionally votes as a bloc following the popular majority in their state, but there is no Constitutional requirement for them to do so.Originally posted by Jaremy Rykker...
Perhaps Gore actually would have won in Florida if all the votes had been counted, but nobody know's the answer to that as the Supreme Court made up their minds quickly enough. ...
In Florida, the members of the Electoral College are selected by the State Legislature, which was controlled by Republicans at the time of the election. Al Gore could have won 99% of the votes in Florida, and the state's 25 Electoral College votes would still have LEGALLY gone to GW Bush.
THERE WAS NO REAL PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTION!
... But there may be a problem with the system.

Criticise the American system?!?
If Limbaugh can spout his tripe, so can Moore. It's a failure of everyone in between to be swayed/convinced or to have their opinions formed solely on the basis of any wingnut. Be it right of left threaded.
But, ya. Realistically the American president is chosen by the popular vote, but the letter of the law is far from representative or popular.
Jefferson truly though all men were created equal. As long as they were rich, white, and men.

If you'll come along, maybe we can finally get your head removed from your nether regions while we're at it.
Context clues, shartley. I didn't say you specifically were parroting anything.

Actualy no.... thats not how its done. Never really ever was. Sometimes it ends up that way and some times it doesn't. But it is not primary way we elect a President. And there is good reason not to do it by popular vote alone.Originally posted by SlartyBartFastBut, ya. In fact its specificaly counter balanced to make sure all regions are equaly represented so that no one populous group can speak for all the states and various regions. An ingenious system of checks and balances that works wonderfully well to represent all States and not just the two or three or so populous ones. A very fore thinking feat by our wise forefathers that foresaw the potential for a few states to dictate to the rest. And since we are a republic of states they specificaly built in a clever system to moderate that. They electoral college. And it works.Comment

Good thing you deleted your previous post... do it again and your getting a temp ban. I can see deleted posts and they will be considered. As well as the fact that you deleted them after some thought will be considered in your favor. I suggest you just edit them though. Simpler and easier and leaves no trace of your indiscretions.Originally posted by spantolHeh. Done and done.
