Ok, all of you except darken sun and echo419 are complete idiots. First of all, Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band in the history of the Earth, it doesn't even compare to bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd... As far as the "satanic" messages that are heard when the lyrics

"If there's a bustle in your hedgerow Don't be alarmed now It's just a spring clean for the May Queen Yes there are two paths you can go by but in the long run There's still time to change the road you're on"

are played backwards, It may or may not be a coincidence. The probability of that occuring is extremely low, but to plan something like that out would be extremely difficult. This is because this is not a backmasked subliminal message, it is an actual speech reversal. I've actually attempted reading the lyrics into the microphone, and I can make out the message when I reverse it myself. But either way, why should it matter? If you're really truely into Rock, then it shouldnt make a difference, and even if for some reason it makes you uncomfortable, theres really no reason to come posting about it on a paintball forum.

Led Zeppelin is my favorite band of all time, and I could really care less about this. This could just be an advertising scheme that Zeppelin decided to use to get everyone more intersted and worked up about them, or Jimmy Page could have sub-consciously done this, without even realizing it. So I suggest, that all of you give up on the subject and go get a body massage.

then you factor in the fact that this song was writen in crowly(sp) house that page bought ....and mayvery well be the reason why plants son died....damn it is ****ing brilliant

the funny thing is i was on a huge Led Zepp site about a year ago when i 1st discoved this

they had about 7 clips from studio and live versions......all of them did the same thing....so the lyrics actually read that way backwards....its not just backwards tracked (i dont think you can backtrack live)

There is a technique called backmasking. You record whatever the hell you want forward, then you "backmask" it. So really, you dont have to be super clever or anything to make a song say one thing forward, and say somthing else backwards.

And yes, you can backmask a live recording, since backmasking takes place after you record it. Of course in the live recordings you can barely make out the "satanic messages" which means it wasn't backmasked - or it'd sound about the same as the studio recording.

Also, HERE is a fun link to check out some other "hidden messages" in music, including Stairway to Heaven, Another One Bites the Dust (Queen), I'm So Tired (The Beatles), Empty Spaces (Pink Floyd), and Hit Me Baby One More Time (Britney Spears - she wants you to sleep with her!) All of these you can easily confirm with just about any mp3 player on your computer. Most can play songs backwards. See if you can make out what they are saying before you look at the lyrics. You'll notice that they are very hard to understand before you read what you are supposed to hear. The exception is Pink Floyd.

Yeah, I agree with everyone about the willies thing, darken sun's original post def gave me some serious willies, because i was in my basement alone, and it was pitch black in the next room. unfortunately i broke horror movie rules and went into that room to check it out cuz i had the willies. i was half expecting someone/thing to be sitting in the corner when i turned the lights on, but i was ok. man was i freaked out.

If u listen to that backward clip and u dont have what u are suspoded to hear typed out in front of u really dont hear anyting. I mean i listened to it about 10 times backwards before i looked at what i was susposed to hear and all i head was satan one then somehting that sounded kinda like 666. Then when i looked at what i was susposed to hear and i head al lof it. So i domt really think there is anything there but owell.

I don't mind Led Zeppelin, and think they are a great band, but back when they were big, I was too busy listening to Iron Maiden for them to have much of an impact on me.

Personally, I'd love for someone to play some Petra, Stryper, Creed etc. backwards and find some subliminal satanic messages in there! That would be freakin' hilarious!!!

Seriously, if you want to look hard enough, you could find pretty much whatever you want, wherever you want... whether it's actually there or not is another question...
