Car Help. My car just stopped going all of a sudden

Yeah well I have a 1987 Honda Civic SI 5 speed. Well i was cruisin down the highway, and when I tried to go faster, my car wouldnt go. It just kept on slowing down until i came to a complete stop and when I took it out of gear and pushed in the clutch, it died. I tried to start it again and it wouldn't turn over. I waited about 30 minutes and it finally started. This has happend to me like 3 times and I have no idea whats wrong. My dad is saying maybe a fuel pump but he is no mechanic. Can you all help any?

Fuel filter maybe? I've heard of those clogging and causing all sorts of weirdness.

          rehme- Fuel Injection
vf-xx- Yeah, someone has told me that too. Maybe I should get it checked?
skife- Gauge is fine. I just filled it all the way up right before then.

IIRC the fuel filter shouldn't be too hard to get at. You might have to jack the car up and look underneath for it. Use your owner's manual. That's what it's there for.

What is your definition of turning over? Its cranks but won't start, or nothing happens when you turn the key? If nothing happens forget about your problem being fuel related.

Throttle body is in fuel injection no?

Snertz- Nope not overheating one bit. Maybe that gauge could be broke?
PyRo- When I turn the key, it goes crrrrrrr but won't begin to start. I can't hardly describe the sound it makes on the internet. Haha.

it sounds like your fuel pump is shot.

Are they expensive or hard to install at all?

It depends on the type of pump. The one in our minivan is inside the gastank. This means that to change it you have to drop the tank >_< I wouldn't call it hard as much as I'd call it annoying as hell and time consuming.

So my best bet it to let someone do it for me? Are they expesive to buy? And can I get them at a car place or do I need to go the dealership?

FIRST thing to do is get it properly diagnosed. Just because we THINK your fuel pump is shot, doesn't mean it is.

Now I'm not framiliar enough with Honda's to reccomend where to get parts, but on all of our cars we deal with O'Reilly's on almost everything.

well, since you dont know where to get the parts, im assumeing that you dont know much about fixing cars wich leads me to assume you dont have many tools.

for you it would probably better to take the car some where.
