    Fastest car for under $5500

im looking for a used car, what do you guys think is the fastest factory car that i can get for under 5500. i want it to be fast stock because im not going to have much money to do anything to it right away.

ive been looking around, and so far im hoping to find a deal on a 5-speed 98 eclipse gs-t, but if i cant find one for under 5500 then ill probably settle for a gs... any other suggestions?

Camaro with an LS1, around a 13.5 1/4 from the factory. Although your going to be looking at pretty rough shape or high milage with that price.

I suggest you stop looking for a fast car, and look for a good car with low miles, reliable, and fits what you need.

Or does Vin Diesel touch you at night?

Good luck finding a 240SX. My friend just boughta 3000gt for 5K, Dont remember what year, just know it was nice and fast. You could also get a mustang 5.0 / 4.6l, or camaro z28. An eclipse GS-T/GSX are tight too.

i live in a large town (area wise) but with a low population, so there isnt much else to do around here besides drive, and i like to have fun when i drive.... its kind of hard to have alot of fun when all you have is an automatic 1991 toyota camry w/140,000 miles on it

If you look into Mustangs... stop looking at Mustangs and look for a Cougar.

I've had my 99' V6 Cougar (manual tran) up to about 138 heading back from Tucson because its a 90 mile stretch of freeway w/ nothing really. I'm sure it could've gone faster, but I eventually got stuck behind 4 semi's running next to each other (2 lane freeway) so I had to slow down to 85. Its got some pretty decent pickup too. You can get em with under 100,000 miles for 5k more than likely.

Or if you're feelin' lucky look for an older RX7 ... mmmm...

Honestly fast cars and younger kids don't always make the best combo. Although the local police department will get to know who you are real quick if your not careful. I second the go for a reliable low mileage car. It'll save you or your parents a decent amount with insurance, & won't suck up gas like it's cheap. Toyota Camary's are good cars. I've known several that have topped the 200k mileage mark and still worked flawless.

If you're feeling lucky, AND willing to put some work into it... my friend's got an RX7, and although he preaches rotary engines night and day, he's had to do a lot to it just to keep it running recently.

you will not get a gsx, or gst eclipse for under 5500, there more like 9000. u could get a older dst maybe like a 95 but it will deffidently not be reliable. if u like an eclipse but the rs or gs verzion years 97-99 are good, i own a 97 gs with some modification and runs at 195 hp (15 less than teh gst or gsx). but they are fun cars.

Half the cars on the road could hit around that speed, its a matter of how fast it can get there.

Yeah buy an RX7 if you like replacing the motor every hundred thousand miles or so.
