actually if you want to get technical, using the word "Jap" or "Japs" in anyway, IS a racial slur.

No it isn't if it isn't used in a racist manor how is abreviating racist? If we have two statements:
      "I love Japs"
      "I hate Japs"
Are both of those statements racist? I would be inclined to say only the one expressing hate for an ethnic group would be seen as racist.
Is "Jew" also a racial slur?

I must say well done pyro, that is one of the most intelligent posts i have ever seen out of you , I knew you had it in you. I think AO has entirely TOO much drama and its really getting annoying. Ok so he posted complaining about how he feels, even if you think it is a dumb thread there is no reason for making fun of him or adding to the drama.

i agree, i think alot of its opinion.

but its the mod's and agd's decisions, so if they want to enforce based on political correctness, then by all means.

Abbreviating is only not racist if it doesn't have a racist history.

Replace the J* with Ni*. THAT was the cultural use of the Japenese "abbreviation".

Seeing as Jews accept "Jew" to describe someone of the Jewish faith, I don't see how there's any comparison.

And, isn't bellyaching and complaining about bans and rule enforcement ALSO against the rules?

This ain't a democracy. It's a Board owned and operated by someone (Tom or AGD). Follow the rules or get out and cuss and whine and slur all you want somewhere else.

                        Well, THEN you consider context.

Calling someone Irish isn't offensive, but if you said "All you Irish are the same, you're all drunks" then it can become such.

The term Italian isn't offensive, but if you said "All you greasy Italians..." then it becomes such.

The term Jew isn't offensive, but if you said "All you Jews are so cheap"....

I think you get the point. Its about context, not the word itself. You can make almost anything offensive if you use it in the right way.

But, on the other hand, some words are always offensive.

If you find you can't express yourself without using offensive words, it's high time you expanded your vocabulary.

I WOULD say "holy cow this thread was a waste of my time." but I'm afraid I would offend the country of India and be deemed racist.
Gawd, let's let the "Japs and Jews" defend themselves, we demean them by taking up their cause without being asked.
