    I'm not sure if it's in halo2, but a lot of games have an option to turn off the blood and gore. That might be something to look for.

      It's no more violent. But like someone else said, if you do a Campaign on Legendary then they do cuss a bit(from what I remember, it's mostly just damn). You probobly should't worry about that though since they would get raped in the first battle and give up pretty quick. Hell, I can barley play on legendary.

          I'd say go for it, my parents never rally stopped me from playing any games at a young age, I played doom and wolfenstein at a rediculously young age I believe, and they didnt realyl care what movies I watched and I turned out fine so far. I dont really play video games anymore.

          Halo 2 is a fun game, GTA: SA is also really fun but Id keep them off that until maybe 12.

            hey now, i've considered getting an X-box and buying and leaving Tournament Paintball in it all the time, no other reason. (Besides, the pc is a far superior gaming platform )

            I go by if esrb ratings are equivilant to whatever the ratings system movies use.

            E = G
            T = PG or PG-13
            M = R
            AO = XXX/Unrated

            If you let your kids watch that R movies, for example(even though i would disagree with your judgment), they could probably play M games.

            As for games and movies not affecting small children, or anyone for that matter, suffice it to say that I know for a fact that it does, granted the game alone won't make anyone become a sadistic killer, it could make some things easier for them if they ever were pushed over the line.
            play for the game

              Well, that is my problem. Halo 2 is rated M, and there is no way I'd let either of them watch a rated R movie. However, I can't figure out why it's rated M. Advice from here indicates that the rating system for these games is spotty at best.

                Dont think it would be that bad as long as you explain that its not real and your shooting bad guys only. They will eventually play it anyways (if they havent already) at friends houses.

                  Actually, they had already played it at a friends house. That wouldn't stop me from making it against the rules.

                  But I'm letting them play it until I find something objectionable...

                    well would you let them watch The Matrix? that was rated R and i can't figure why. there's no cursing and no sex. the violence is no worse than james bond which is always PG-13. so why is this movie rated R? ratings sytems in general are suspect. there should be an easy way of getting a more detailed description of exactly what objectionable content is in a game or movie.

                    i haven't actually played halo 2 single player. but with original halo there was nothing too objectionable. a little blood, mostly from aliens and one freaky scifi part similar to Aliens "Kill me!". there were some taunts that the soldiers would yell that you might not want the kids repeating not because of language but content (i could be your daddy type stuff). as i said this is all regarding the original halo i haven't played halo2 but i wouldn't expect it to be that much different.

                      I haven't seen The Matrix, but no, I wouldn't let them watch it. If it's rated R they aren't watching it. I don't care if it's missrated. There are plenty of other movies...

                      If it wasn't for this forum they wouldn't be playing Halo 2 either. But I do think I'll look a little closer at single player mode.
