If you get hit with laser, just save the cop the hassle and pull over.

I wasnt sure if your talking to me or someone else, but I want to know if it is me that they are going for, not someone else, I would hate it if I pulled over, and he was going for the guy infront of me, and just wanted to fill his quota.

I read somewhere how to make an *actual* radar jammer, but you'd need all kinds of wierd components that are kinda hard/illegal to find. add to that if you make that jammer the FCC will PWN you for illegal broadcasting, but it'll set off all the other radar detectors. buy a nice nice car and the cops wont bother you. speed in a 89 camry in a school zone *i didnt see any damm signs* and they are none too pleasant

Jammers simply aren't worth the risk. They're illegal in too many areas and penalties are usually stiff, and it's just not worth the added hassle of trying to keep yourself from getting screwed when pulled over. Just because they can't tell you're speeding doesn't mean you won't get pulled over for something else, such as a taillight that burns out 30 seconds after you check it.

I purchased a V-1 about 5 years ago and took advantage of their 30-day money back guarantee. There were only two features that made the V-1 stand above other models: the bogey counter and directional arrows. However, those features simply weren't worth the premium price to me. I'm sure for many others they are. It doesn't take a prodigy to learn how to use a radar detector effectively. My advice is to get the model that has the features you want at the lowest possible price.

The whole quota thing is a myth, too. However, they do have regular performance reviews, part of which might include what we laymen consider unfair revenue generation. Don't get me started. There's a HUGE difference between FAST and UNSAFE. Can someone tell me why a road with 3 lanes in each direction has a 30 MPH speed limit? Other areas would call that road an expressway, turnpike, tollway, interstate, etc. But in Stone Park, IL 3 lanes in each direction is a frickin' school zone.

                UNFAIR?!?

Don't care what you think the line is between fast and safe. Don't want to have to issue different speed limits to different drivers either.

Theres a rule. Obey the limit. Break the rule, get caught, pay the fine.

Not an ounce of "unfair" in the equation.

                        That's RADAR diffusing.

                        But,

Actually, those are VERY easy to shoot down in mountenous terrain. Broadcast radar from one side of the valley, receive on the other, shoot for the "hole".

Just because something is a rule or law does not make it right nor fair, hence the ability of citizens to change it. If you think you have to obey a rule only because it's a rule, you're nothing but a sheep. I guess that's why it's so easy for you to view things as only black and white. I recommend you read Shirley Jackson's The Lottery to develop a different viewpoint on questioning why things are done the way they are.

Speed limits were put into place as a result of the oil crisis in the 70's. Others turned it around saying the roads were safer as a result, but rather than using empirical evidence to support their argument, they instead used flawed logic. There is no scientifically-sound evidence suggesting speed limits make the roads safe(r). What these studies do is take a very specific aspect of their data and draw broad conclusions from it.
