Hey, yeah, i'm a student, I'm so almost done (15 hours) and i'm getting a convertible tablet today. I'd love to check out a g5 dually (if i had money that wasnt constantly being spent on paintball) and do some coding on it. I think it'd improve my portability in my code if i do it all on macs/apples. It's just so nice to use visual studio .net and have a working gui for your windoze apps in under 15 mins! I like the way mac likes to isolate the end user from the menutia(sp?) of all the inner workings. But hey, that's how i make my money! My computers are all custom built (5 i count in my house) and they all run full time. The only problem with my home theater PC is the noise (micro atx power supply is a tad noisy). I used to hate macs, but slowly and surely they are winning me over. If i can use my MX510 blue hologram mouse on a g5 with all the same functionality as i get in windows, i'm sold, the rest i can figure out.
OH, yeah, dont get seduced by the net box marketing. I've done it before and have been sorely in need of money afterwards because, yeah, it's only 500, but then add a monitor (depending on type, up to 2300 bucks!!) and all kinds of other stuff you'd not normally think of. I think the canteloupe macs are the best bet, they come with everything and are at least a little bit upgradeable.
