Much of the reason he became a symbol to communists is because of his dedication to practicing the tenetsof communism. He lived a relatively simple life. While many of the revolutionary leaders were getting reich and living a "high" life he refused fancy cars and a large salary. On the flip side he was disgusted by those who did not live the 'dream" (Fidel included). Due to this he was quick to judge and had no qualms about passing sentence on others.

i think its rediculous that a ton of white republican rich kids wear shirts, hats, etc with his likeness on it. first of all republicans and commies dont mix, heck democrats and commies dont even mix. second the irony of buying che mirchandise is just top notch, you know with a capitalist shirt company selling a communist's image for their own profit. third all but 1/20th of the people who wear that crap even know anything about what he was involved in, they think he was like marley going around smoking blunts all the time (though im sure thats exagerated (sp?) too). kids in highschool are such hypocrytes, and im not some emo scode so dont say it.

Not sure if anyone has checked out the movie The Motorcycle Diaries which is about his journy through South America on a motorcycle with his friend. Kinda interesting take the events that contributed to his future beliefs. Not really sure how close it followed real events or the book but it was a good watch none the less.

You have to understand what I was like in South america/latin America in those days... you cant just look at someone like him from your nice middle class American home & push what you believe onto him!! that part of the world in those days was hell on earth. So dont sprout off on something if you dont understand it. The whole red under the bed senario was a witch hunt.

If you think the commies were bad Than we were just as bad. (I dont believe in their pollitical belief either btw) We did some pretty bad stuff & pushed our ideas on other countries just the same as they did...

my thread does not deserve to be shut down because of idiots, this isnt like a republican vs democrat thing it is communist vs. democratic, if anything. i think that we press american democracy on others because it worked so well for us. i dont think that we should use the military to do it though.
