There were a couple of girls in a town a couple hours away that say the vagina monologues and liked it so much they started wearing "I <3 My Vagina" t-shirts to school (high school). They initially got in trouble, but the decision to punish them got reversed or maybe they just aren't cooperating and now they have more girls wearing the shirts and even guys wearing "I heart your vagina" shirts, or something along those lines. I can't remember the story very well, but it might come up on a search of google. the city it happened in is winona, mn.
I think it's ok to have the untraditional v-day, but keep it at colleges and let the boys have their fun too. No need to reverse-gender discriminate on the men.War is peace

Guess what, men have 10% bigger brains, factoring in height and everything. Womens brains are bigger in one part though, vocalization (wow big suprise there). I could extrapolate from there...

Besides, I don't think the guys should have gotten punished for what they did. I'm not condoning V-day or whatever such nonsense this is... I just think that when men get all bent out of shape about this kind of thing it's amusing. As a white male, you're guarenteed more opportunities in life than most other people. On the other hand; you can't call yourself a feminist unless oyu believe in equality, and that's not all fun and games either. For example, the draft. Women should be included if they are truly societal equals to men.
And about the potential rapist deal? I'm sorry, but I consider that SMART. Maybe not if you know the person, but even then.... rapes happen. Women in general have to be careful. Are you going to begrudge me that?
As far as I can see, the Women's Lib movement hardly made a dent in the partriarchal society that MEN run. You know, I'll be happy when there's no glass ceiling. I'll be happy when a woman and a man doing the same job get the same pay. And you know what? I'll be even happier when I don't have to worry about riding the subway or buses alone.
