The one last thing I will say is that both of you are reading too much into what the other one is typing.

No one is denying anyone the right to be equal, and no one is stereotyping that I can see. Some things could be typed better, but if you read it with as neutral an eye as possible most of it is very speific.

Yes, patriarchal societies exist because all the way back when, men were the hunter/gatherers, and women were the mothers. It doesn't have to be that way anymore, so why do we still have less female congresspeople than men? How come we've had all white, male, christian presidents?

listen i am all for equal oppertunities, but there are some things that need looking at, stat.

first off, women can rape too, it happens

second off, men are getting more and more crap for being men. Just because we have a penis means we are potential rapists thats crap, and the government agrees.

i dont know if you are aware, but if a girl gets drunk and decides to have consentual sex with another male, and wakes up in the morning, regretting what she did, she is alowed to persecute the male for rape. Even if she is the catalyst in the situation, she can still persecute. that is crap. Defend that, and how that isnt fair, i dare you.

Men and women are both capable to doing both effeciently and effectively, but there is a reason men ended up doing it. If that were the reason, then we probably wouldn't have a male dominated society. It would probably be a male/female dominated society.

If you want a female President find a woman to run. Get women to vote for her. I honestly think a female could win, if one would run. Heck, if she didn't offend me like the last 2 election's candidates and had what would in my opinion be good policies I would even vote for her.

I just think that when men get all bent out of shape about this kind of thing it's amusing. As a white male, you're guarenteed more opportunities in life than most other people. On the other hand; you can't call yourself a feminist unless oyu believe in equality, and that's not all fun and games either.

Equality goes both ways. Do you have any idea what it's like to be scoffed at when you try to hold the door open for a lady? (No, lady is not the term I'd use for these people, perhaps "gyrl" is the proper term.) Do you have any idea what it's like to be asked, "What do you think you're doing?" when you try and help out a gyrl? No? How about working and attending school in fear of complimenting a coworker, classmate, or professor due to the rediculous sexual harrassment laws in this country? Why is it the men who have to go to the sensitivity seminars? What happens when we, the men, are sexually harassed? Let me tell you. Nothing. Nada. ничто. Nicht.

And about the potential rapist deal? I'm sorry, but I consider that SMART. Maybe not if you know the person, but even then.... rapes happen. Women in general have to be careful. Are you going to begrudge me that?

Tell me, do you consider your boyfriend as a potential rapist? Do you have your finger on the trigger of that can of OC every time he drops you off at your house? What makes him any different than me, my brother, my Poli Sci teacher, or the frat boy sitting next to you in...whatever classes you take. My girlfriend is laying next to me, her iPod blaring with death metal, totally unaware of my actions. Does this mean that she has put herself in a position to be raped, or that she is danger because she is within shouting distance of a, *gasp*, man? Of course not, that's just rediculous.

If every man is stereotyped as a certain thing, then why can't every feminist be stereotyped as a certain thing?

As far as I can see, the Women's Lib movement hardly made a dent in the partriarchal society that MEN run. You know, I'll be happy when there's no glass ceiling. I'll be happy when a woman and a man doing the same job get the same pay. And you know what? I'll be even happier when I don't have to worry about riding the subway or buses alone.

I'll be happy when that happens, too. You are against men's oppression of women, but you seem to be for women's oppression of men. I'm against woman's oppression of men AND men's oppression of women.

And honestly? Most people wouldn't try to take that right away from you. I'll say it again: what the college did was wrong. But don't discount feminism just because of what a group of women did/do.

I am afraid that America is not ready for a woman President. Why? Because people would vote for her simply because she was a woman, not because of her politics and beliefs. Some would vote against her simply because she's a woman also. I know people who would vote for a woman president simply because she's a woman. Why don't we see as many women CEO's as men CEO's? Because those positions require decades of experience. In time, there will be.
