I did not watch the movie - 56K

    The numbers, very possibly...

If you are eating meat you need to realize that it was a living animal at one point, likely raised for no other purpose but food, and you need to be comfortable with it. I do not beleive it is wrong, btu I do not kid myself about where that stuff in the store comes from and the process to make it either.

      Here you can choose

Well I have no problem eating the meat that from an animal that I killed because I'm using it for just food. And death by getting shot seems alot better than what these animals have to go through.
I always knew that the animals got killed but I didn't know they were "mass-produced" so to say.

Well, I live near one of the largest dairy farms in New England. It's not like that. It sure smells though.

I really should watch the movie... but I just haven't. Your description of mass production is correct for many of the large "producers". I'm sure PETA takes it to the extreme of the worst examples but I am telling you that most people, if they had understood the process, would have an issue eating meat. Again, I like meat, i have no problem eating it. Having watched the process on "small scale" though and having read the descriptions of large scale I have no doubt the images are disturbing. I still eat meat, I make no effort to hide what it means. Im ok wtih it

I really don't want to watch it - I know what happens in the slaughtering process and it is not pleasant.

DAIRY farms. Not a slaughterhouse. Two totally different things.

I don't know if the numbers are true, but the practices definitely are. If you're eating meat, you should be aware of what you're supporting. Although PETA can get a little nuts.

Yeah I agree with what you said about taking it to the extreme, and I think the video is pretty extreme in itself. I enjoy meat also, My freezer downstairs is half full of fallow deer meat. I just think that I'm gonna not take for granted as much because it is a creature's life that was taken so I can fill my stomach.

Did you watch the movie? Cows in the dairy "factory" farms were treated unfairly also.

"..fed antibiotics to promote unnaturally rapid growth"

i didn't know antibiotics promote growth..

"producers often shock the bodies of the worn out birds into another laying cycle by withholding food for up to 14 days, many die of starvation"

I didn't know starving hens made them produce more eggs...

"The USDA allows meat from animals with cancerous legions and puss filled wounds to be certified as USDA pure.."

                  mmmmk..............

There is probably alot of truth in the video, but keep in mind it was made for a purpose and with an adgenda, much like a Michael Moore video.

The cattle part made me think of Sinclair's "The Jungle", which made me not want to eat meat for days.

Animals are genetically and pharmecuitically (sp) manipulated to produce more and better foods. I am sure there are other manipulations. I like meat, I like money. These methods make meat cheaper and more abundant. I don't see the problem.

I realize that. but from what i can tell from the video, the largest amount of animal abuse goes on in the trip to the slaughterhouse and in the slaughterhouse itself. I was trying to say that in a dairy farm you won't see the same kind of extremes that you'll see in a slaughterhouse.

PETA is extremist. They have an agenda, and I doubt that a lot of the things in this video are true. Scientifically, how does shocking a chicken cause it to produce more eggs? How do these conditions benefit the industry? There's been a lot of change in the industry, also. I'd like to know how old the footage is.

I wonder how throwing chickens into the bins would help the chicken and its meat? I wonder how old the footage is too, I'll do some research

The way I look at the whole animal consumption thing can be summed up in a single phrase....

"If we weren't supposed to eat meat, God wouldn't have made it so tasty with BBQ sauce" - ARMY

                              That is all.
