Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball MAX'D comes out for the XBOX on the 18th. Field editor, new fields, 29 tournaments, split screen multiplayer, COMPLETELY revamped AI which makes em quite hard, voice/control commands to your teamates, breakout feature. I cant wait.

Wow talk about screwing up the rank system....Everyone is Staff Sergent now.

I heard the points for rank got nerfed back to a reasonable level, but added most of the medals for the better promotions.
So most people will gain 1-3 ranks when patched. Above Gunnery Sargeant or so it gets rediculous again. So if you play regularly, you should have the 3/4 unlocks you use the most. If I get more than 1 rank I might actually get the M95.

Anyone confirm the changes, like the Helicopter not turning flags? Why did they remake Wake?

Yeah it appears they have redone the upgrades... I only have like 2400 points, I dont play often, and I'm almost at my next upgrade.

So it went from 10,000 to 3,000 for CORPORAL.

Yes they've also redone the heli's. Basically only the pilot of a vehicle gets flag points. For passengers to get points they need to exit the vehicle and stand near the flag like normal, once its been capp'd they can get back in the vehicle and move on so no more Heli whoring.

Also they've reduced the repair rate on a heli from an engineer so you cant have that 1 group who just whores all map w/o dying cause they have 3 engineers and a few medics onboard to keep everything up.

I like the changes. After a bit of playing/promotions/unlocking I should have three new weapons. The 4th in 2000 points. Woop.

The new Wake Island is fun, got owned on it (joined late the game).

Looks like bf2s.com is updating a lot more often now. It's also got a breakdown of what the requirements for all the medals/ranks/ribbons/whatever are.

Hehe, 3 unlocks was fun. Everything but the G3 and Barret unlocked.
Its almost guarranteed any kit you grab off the ground is an unlock now.

well, i had to completely uninstall the game (had to do it manually because the uninstall.exe wouldnt work). reinstalled it and the patch worked fine. Didn't have a chance to really play around, but i'll be on a bunch tonight for sure.

I now have the sniper unlock and the medic....i have one more to choose, but i am not sure what i want. I am either going to get the support or antitank. I have played with the antitank and like it, but i also play support a fair amount, but have never played with that unlock. T3, what do you think of the support unlock? how does it compair to the standared support weapon?

The PKM is a much slower rate of fire compared to the SAW. But at full auto it has a good tight grouping (when prone of course) and has more knock down damage. A 3 shot burst at close/medium range to the upper torso will do the job well. I only wish it had penetrate power like the M95 for those Vodnick drivers and choppers. But it will still take those down by itself with a bit of patience.
Otherwise the PKM is much nicer for long range firing. Plus you actually get the occasional one shot kill to the head much more than the SAW.

I think my new toys I'll use the most is the L85 and the G36C. And Wake is just fantastic with all the special effects turned on.

Well, I got 2 new unlocks, and I chose Medic (nice range/power/accuracy) my only gripe is that the scope is a little wierd, but oh well, no biggie. The other one I chose after some thought was the DAO-12 fro the Anti-Tank. I never played with it before and was told it was full auto despite what the reading material said, and it turns out that is is in fact only semi-auto. Still has a nice rate of fire, just not full auto. I ran through Wake Island on a server that was waiting for more people to show up to play and it looks like it'll be fun to actually play, especially with a large number of people. I shouldn't be to far from another unlock, and at that point I think I may go with the support or engineers unlock. I know alot of people havce said the Sledgehammer sucks, but I play engineer more often than support or anti-tank which I just unlocked so we shall see.

I haven't gotten an unlock yet (i don't think) but i was wondering how you know when you get an unlock... and how you choose which one you want.

When you get enough points for an unlock it will automatically in game say you've been promoted. Then when you log out of the server and get to the main screen it will say you've been promoted and bring up an 'UNLOCK WEAPON' screen where you can cycle through and click UNLOCK on the one you want, and the next time you join a server you'll see an UP/DOWN arrow next to your unlocked class that lets you select between the stock, or unlocked weapon when you spawn.

I have the 50Cal Sniper
The auto-shottie w/ the Engineer and the Assault weapons unlocked under Seargent. I'm about 2000 away from my next unlock.

The game game will tell you when you get an unlock. You should choose you first unlock based on which ever kit you play the most. After that I think it's mostly a matter of personal prefernce.
