A very heartfelt thank you to everyone who responded. The news from the doctor was it could possibly be stage III (56% odds). I'm holding onto stage II. Surgery will be the first week of Nov.

We won't incur any costs as my wife works for Kaiser. And they have just instituted some new systems for cancer patients (an answer with a needle biopsy in 20 minutes for example).

I'm trying to stay positive. Positive stories help. Thanks to those sharing them. It really does help.

I'm not religious either. My wife is. She was raised as a Unitarian Universalist. Her father was a minister. Even though I'm not religious, it does help knowing people are praying for us. And like I said before, it doesn't matter much what you say; it really is the thought that counts.

Chemo can really bring you down, but the chances are on your side. I'm in a slightly similar situation with my grandmother. A few weeks ago she got a large portion of her stomach removed due to cancer, and recovery from that for a woman in her mid-80's isn't all that easy.

                    Good luck.

Aw man. I am so sorry this has to happen to your family at such a wonderfull time in your life. The new kid and all. I don't even understand these things and why they happen. I do know they must happen for a reason the escapes us at the time. I at least hope that's true. Sometimes they reinstill our zeal for life in the end I guess. At least lets look to the future and the cure. Then deal with that.

I will be thinking of you and, in my way, praying for you and your family. Get well soon Mrs. HiTech and keep the faith.

I just want to wish you and your boys the strength to deal with the situation at hand.. It can be tough when "mommy is sick". Tell the boys early, take them to the center, it will teach them compassion for thier fellow man kind.
I wish your wife lots of rest. Looks like she has a wonderful husband, and family is the most important thing at a time like this..
