I'll ignore all the flaming and just say this, I think that capital punishment is a childish waste of money. Whats it do? Mostly it kills minorities or people that lack value for human life which is like telling a vegitarian that he can't have beef. Sure it makes a grand statement and one heck of a sound bite but it doesn't bring closure to victims or survivors, just vengance. I don't want these people to die, that is and always has been the easy way out. I don't think they should get off either by a pardon or death, I think they should work. A dozen gang members on death row for murder to me are a dozen people that should be made to fix up the neighborhoods they once plagued. And of course it's much easier to say 'oops we screwed up' to a guy mixing concrete then to a guy six feet under if it's found out that they didn't commit the crime even if this is on the way side with dna testing catching up with old cases. Call me a softey but I just get ticked off when I think about how many cops could be on the street with the money saved by having some scum sitting in prison instead. Not that the powers as be would use any extra money to do something like that but thats a whole nother ball game

Yeah they have no respect for human life, except their own skin! It is everybody else taht is fair game to them. They are sick animals, and a sick animal must be segregated from the herd and killed off. Maybe we could incorporate this with the big game hunting thread....

I'm not so sure the bible is what you want to quoting in this, lots of opposing passages.

The path of the righteous man and defender is beset on all sides by the iniquity of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper, and the finder of lost children. And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious anger, who poison and destroy my brothers; and they shall know that I am Chiba the Bodyguard when I lay my vengeance upon them! (Ezekiel 25:17)

Actually, it would cost more money to keep these wastes of sperm in prison for life.

Not accurate. It has been shown in the past that it costs more to execute someone under the current system (including the mandatory appeals) than it does to keep them in prison for life. We can do away with some of those appeals, but every safeguard you take away it makes it more likely to execute someone innocent, not something I am a fan of. I have no problem morally with capital punishment, my objections are based on the possibility of flaws in the system, the disparity of capital punishment across class lines, and the financial cost.

You're right: you would have to figure the appeals in for it to be true. This is a point that I didn't think of when I made my statement--I apologize.

I do agree with you that the system is flawed; however, it works as designed--like it or not. If it were not abused by frivolous lawsuits pursued by ambulance-chasing attorneys then it would work much better. Unfortunately, we cannot change that facet.

Personally, I think Recon's cost saving method would be best used if implimented against ambulance-chasing attorneys
