All I have to say is I hate people.

I was supposed to pick this thing up yesterday so I rent a trailer only to have the guy change his mind. I told him I rented a trailer already and he said he'd cover the price. So I go to pick it up today with the rented trailer (now on its 2nd day). I get there and this guy seems like he can barley stand straight or form a sentence. Guess what he tells me? Not only is he not paying for the trailer but he now wants more money for the truck. So I tell him we had a deal for XXX amount, he says it's worth more, I reply by telling him I'd like my deposit back and the trailer rentals covered. He refuses to refund my deposit. At this point he now has a bit of my money and I'm out the rental fee.

It took a little will power not to just give him a good shot to the temple but I don't feel like jail time right now. I was dealing with the owner’s son (about 20) because the guy I bought the truck from is gone for a few days. I'm going to wait until Sunday when his parents get back home, talk to them and hope things work out as they seem like decent people. I get the idea this guy was just trying to make a little off the top and too messed up on something to really realize what he was doing. I wouldn't be half surprised if when he came down he came back apologizing his head off and trying to get me to pick it up so his parents don't throw him out of the house when they find out. If not it looks like it’s off to small claims court for which I have all the correspondence between us and a signed receipt for the deposit.

That sucks! I've found out that there's a lot of people who are jerks and you've gotta be wary of everyone...

      Stupid people.

So my newest piece of crap came home today. For future referance when towing a fullsize pickup and 2000lb trailer with a fullsize pickup keep it under 60mph. The springs in that ram are sagging a tiny big from the 40 mile trip and they're seven leaf springs with an ad-a leaf. I'm waiting to see if they come back up at all.

        All seems well so far.

So who at U-haul did you fib to to get them to allow that combination?

For some reason I think he heard me say I was pulling a Jeep Wranlger when I actually said 1990 Full size Chevy 2500. The thing was overweight by about 1000lbs and the back of the truck hung over about four feet. The way that thing was strapped down it wasn't going anywhere though.

Yes, I got the truck for the price of the auction minus the trailer rental and cost of driving all over as well.

Not sure if those had the 5th gear problem, but the NV4500's used in the Dodge pickups from 94 to 2003 would occasionally spin the 5th gear off the shaft and you'd lose 5th gear. Easy fix if it does happen, just a heads up.

Get a Holley TBI unit for that, a bench seat cover and some new carpet and you're good to go.
I know my friends dodge has the NV4500 so next time he's over I'll just take a look at see if they're the same my first gear doesn't feel as low as his. He's got 4.10s or so in the rear so I can't really compare it that way.

Does that Holley TBI unit actually make much differance if you don't burn a new chip for it? I seem to recally hearing somthing about that in the Camaros.

I'm going to find a bench seat cover but first i have to find a chunk of foam to fill the big hole in the seat. If I stumbled across some buckets and a center console that would be nice but I'm not going to go buy them.

Carpet what's that? This has a rubber mat which makes for much easier cleaning.

The headliner is starting come come down so I might have to do my custome headliner trick (remove it completly).

Needs a CJ player which will probably be a PITA considering it has the three piece system

Have to remove the nuetral safty switch which takes about three seconds

Check the 4x4 and fix if necessary

Figure out if it actually needs a clutch it isn't slipping and doesn't grind I'm not sure why he said it needed one. I'm thinking maybie it slips under load.

Find some sort of spray on bedliner to replace the plastic one while the bed is still rust free.

                      Find or make a plow.

                      Possibly paint it.

I also discovered this thing has cruise and the RPO for a heated steering wheel but I don't see any controll for it.
For $1,000 I'm happy with what I got.

I heard these trucks like to burn though clutchs very quickly. Like plowing for one storm and the clutch is gone.

Well $440 later and a trip to the clutch shop I have:
A 12in kevlar clutch kit as opposed to the 11in stock one. The kevlar should also last much longer than the Chinese ones NAPA sells (325 for the kit)
Nicely cut flywheel. Apparently you need a very clean flywheel or the Kevlar will burn out very quickly (35)
                          Flywheel spacer (10)
New ball stud. Dealer part since apparently the aftermarket ones blow ($60)
and still need to get a transmission mount and clutch fork.

$325 as opposed to $175 for the NAPA one. This thing better last twice as long if not better.

Shoot... that's a cheap clutch. I just dropped a grand for a clutch for my powerstroke... Said to be the best clutch available though. South Bend Con FE. Supposedly capable of handling 550 hp, 1100 ft lbs of torque!

Too bad youll never have numbers like that with a powerstroke.
