Concerning the Bible:
Leviticus 19:28 which says, "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord."

Deuteronomy 14:1: "You are the sons of the LORD your God: you shall not cut yourselves, or make any baldness on your foreheads for the dead."
When it speaks here about doing this in relation to the dead; this was a witchcraft rite done to mourn or remember their dead, so cutting, piercing and tattooing have its origin in witchcraft practices.

1. over the course of my life i've had well over 20 piercings, currently i have 2 lobe, 2 cartilage, tongue, both nipples and a HUGE navel ring (toss in some tattoos and scarification work, and you've got me)

Got any pics of the scarification? I've always found it interesting. (not interested in getting any work done..bu it looks cool )

*edit*
what gauge is the navel ring? just HOW huge?

i've actually already seen these verses. But I'm afraid they don't apply to us anymore, they are from the old testament. Also just to note, the piano has it's origins in bordels and saloons. It wasn't until the mid 1900's that it started to show up in churches...

To be honest, those bible verses don't really relate to get your ear pierced. Like someone else said, I know many youth pastors that have multiple ear rings.

I don't like ear rings, or piercing anywhere.
I don't have any, nor will I.

.. thats about it. For girls though, belly and tongue rings are ok

Why don't they relate to ear piercings? Isn't it still cutting the flesh? I'm going to stop before I get into my religion rant mode.

Sarah-
if i remember i'll take a few pics of my back piece, its a cutting/rubbing about 3x5, it is the mandarin character for equality, and took almost 6 hours start to finish, pretty, but not fun.

i currently have a 6ga in my navel but it would easily fit a 4, maybe a 2 if i pushed it, more than big enough to drop stuff through

Heat/irbodden-
i don't want to spark a religious debate, that's not what these boards are for, but Leviticus is more or less a big list of rules for how men and women are to behave (don't sleep with animals, don't steal from your neighbors, ...), many people (lets call them 'Jews') tend to take the old testament rather seriously besides its not like the 'new' testament was re-written in the late 80s to take into account the changes in humantity at large, they are both quite old so their meanings must always be adapted slightly to draw parallels to modern life.

while yes, how religions are applied in day to day life change over time, by and large the books do not. some people take a more liberal approach to interpreting the bible, and others tend to nit pick over the details or what is and is not allowed according to the "word" of the bible. so while your youth pastor may have an ear ring, another person in the same belief structure may see it as an abomination.

its gorgeous (in my mind) and was a very spiritual experience, i didn't however have the forsight to realize that i would have to backpack around eastern europe with a gaping hole in my back after we missed our train to the den Haag. it is something that i will not ever regret, but hope to never repeat

Naval rings are a little scary in my oppinion. I remember talking to this girl who had one. It was gathering what seemed to be lint on th let side. Does anyone have a reverse PA? Piercing is only something you should do if you have a valid reason, specially if you are ever thinking about a reverse PA. I've heard bad stories from friends.

I don't know if there is a valid reason for piercings... but I for one think that in moderation they are VERY attractive. I myself would never pierce anything beyond my tongue, earlobe and upper ear (what ever it's called) A girl has twice the chances with me if she has more then just a double pierced ear. For anyone who cares, my parents have finally realized that I'm too old to be making demands on these kind of issues and while they still don't agree they will not hold it against me. No it was nothing in this thread that made then decide this way and this thread was never intended for that.... it was 'research" on my part. I have however decited to wait a while. Till either I have an occasion to remember or to please a partner (not sexualy) with the same taste toward piercings. Either way it may be something that will only be ok for a limited time. I have decited to attend a bible collage in hopes to bring myself knowledge wise a little closer to God if you want to say so, but most bible collages condem piercings including the one I'm hoping to attend.
Thanks to all who partisipated in this survay and watch the board for a pic IF I do ever do one... cause I'll be proved to show it off...

I have a friend that does. I was their when he got it done, just a couple of days before I got my PA done. From what I can tell his was considerably worse than mine.
