GO NAVY!
I will hopefully be a future Naval Aviator.. I plan on attempting to gain a slot in F/A-18's which, in the near future many of the current jets and thier roles will be given to the F/A-18, so I think I stand an alright chance...
A little back ground..
Grandfather was in the beginging's of what are today's "SEALS", he was a commando and then some how wound up flying Pby's in the Navy...
Uncle was a test pilot for Grumman and flew F-4's and F-14's with the Jolly Rogers Squadron.. He survived a Mid-Air with a Russian Tupelov Bear Bomber in the late 70's early 80's not sure.. Currently a Captain at Southwest flying 737's..
My dad also flew in the Navy... He flew S-2 Trackers and S-3 Vikings with VS-31 on the USS Independence... He has since moved on to the airlines.. He flew Dc-9's and 727's with Eastern until they went belly up in the late 80's and has spent the last 10 or so years with Federal Express... He has moved between DC-10's, Md-10's and 727's.. He is currently a Captain on the seven-two's...
So, I'm going to join the Navy when I grad. bust my hump and gain a pilot slot, hopefully get Hornets..do my 12 or so years and then get into the commerical biz.. that's my plan, and I'm stickin to it..
