Amen to that brother! Everybody wants to be special. Guess what? We are only special to our Mothers. People need to get over themselves
Funny enough though, people tend to seperate themselves in society. Its the government that is perpetuating things like forced busing and forced integration. Tragic. People arent being racist, they want to be around others like them. Why is that concept so hard to grasp?Comment

I do believe that you are the first person to bring racism into this. How hard is that to grasp?Originally posted by WarwitchAmen to that brother! Everybody wants to be special. Guess what? We are only special to our Mothers. People need to get over themselves

Fascinating theory. You overlook the fact that people aren't defined by their race OR who they hang out with. Hell, if I was defined by my friends' race, I'd be Asian. I suspect you, on the other hand, hang out with your friends because of the collective stupid in your group-- which incidentally happens to coincide with race.Originally posted by WarwitchAmen to that brother! You show either amazing cynicism for one so young, or you show incredible lack of knowledge of the English language for one so old. Take your pick. People are special to lots of people. That's what friends are, you know, people you're special to, and who are special to you.Comment

Heh, thats amusing...Karenga noted "People think it's African, but it's not. I came up with Kwanzaa because black people wouldn't celebrate it if they knew it was American. Also, I put it around Christmas because I knew that's when a lot of Bloods were partying."[4]
Speaking of racism...^In 1967, a year after Karenga proposed this new holiday, he publicly espoused the view that "Jesus was psychotic" and that Christianity was a white religion that blacks should shun.[6] However, as Kwanzaa gained mainstream adherents, Karenga altered his position so as not to alienate practicing Christians, then stating in the 1997 Kwanzaa: A Celebration of Family, Community, and Culture, "Kwanzaa was not created to give people an alternative to their own religion or religious holiday." Stupid people tend to flock together. They also happen to be largely white males. No, that's not fair... white in general. But like I said, I'm friends with mostly Asians, so maybe I'm biased.Originally posted by Lohman446??Comment

Yeah, 'cause that wasn't racist. Even if you are caucasian (weird FF says that's misspelled) that was still a racist comment. What does you being around Asians have to do with anything? Other than you being stereotypical. I'm friends with primarily Asians, I don't go around saying white people are stupid. That was just a dumb post.Originally posted by tropical_fishyStupid people tend to flock together. They also happen to be largely white males. No, that's not fair... white in general. Blast, there goes me and my lack of smileys again. Yes, I'm white. I was also being sarastic.
This thread did get me thinking though. Has anyone ever met anyone who DOES celebrate Kwanzaa?
Edit: I'm sorry, guys. It's been a rough couple of days; I traveled for well over 14 hours yesterday, had my wisdom teeth poked at today, and had my ex being kind of stalkerish. I'm angry, witchy, snarky, and extremely unhappy-- if I snap at you, I'm sorry; if I say anything mean, I'm also sorry.Last edited by tropical_fishy; 12-18-2006, 08:16 PM.Comment
