normal 4banger engine where i normally get around 26-28mpg useing 93 octane. with an empty car.
Why such high octane? Car turbo'd?

Most of those are common sense, I don't think I'd make a habit of turning my car on and off. Acetone thing I'd like to hear more on but not enough to try it myself.

My brother did this on his 97 Grand Am. He said the car ran better, but he got no more than 5% improvement. Apparently, it doesn't work as well in gas with ethanol, which just about all gas seems to have. He said that he reset his computer and it jumped up to 20% for one tank. He figured that it whacked out his emissions and the computer "fixed" it.

I don't think he bothers anymore.

I'm not one to try doing the acetone adding but I do try to limit my revs and driving habits.

A little experiment I did the other day...

86 miles from my place to my hometown:
on the way down, I limited revs to 2.5k and didn't use any unnecessary passing/throttling/etc.
Made the run in about 3.2 gallons so about 26mpg
on the way back up to my place, I threw caution to the wind and basically maintained an 80mph average without monitoring my revs. It took nearly half a gallon more. so it was closer to 20

Now if I limited myself to 2k and drove 65-70 instead of 2.5k 70-75, I would have probably cut my gas usage down even further, but I didn't want to be driving under the speed limit...

Method of measurement: Fill full tank, reset mile counter, drive, refuel, calculate mpg

          .

My feedback if you've dealt with me, leave some...

Wasn't that the entire idea of dropping the speed limits to 55 in the 70's? ? It was not about safety, it was about fuel economy.

Well i've been trying Acetone (100% pure) for a bit now and i've notice NO difference in mileage. Oh well, only cost $1 to try so some of you may want to give it a shot.
