When you tell a newbie you have an automag

OK, here's every comment I got pertaining to my warper RT yesterday:

"Whoa"
"Whoa"
"What is that?" Warp Feed.
"Whoa."
"Is that automatic?" Nope.
"Sweet."
"Is that electronic?" Nope.
"Is that better than an autococker?" Oh yeah.
"Can I shoot it?" That was the field owner!
"Whoa!"
"I'm on his team"
"lvl 10? What's that?"
"How does it work?" I show them.
"Whoa."

The rest of the time was spent huddled around my gun in awe. I love paintball.

I also forgot, how much did that setup cost? I get that alot.

I still can't believe Crossfire gave you a Retro valve They must of been nuts. Hows the site? Whats the web address? You got your LVL 10 yet? Im still waiting for mine.

I once told a tourney-playing friend of mine that I was getting a Mag and he said "why don't you just get a Cocker for the same price?(350)". But by then I had already heard enough good and intelligent comments about Mags and had decided to get a Mag instead. So I just looked at him funny and we got one of those awkward moments, you know how it goes.

The things I have got before are:
1) Why did you waste so much money on a paintball gun?
2) Sell the Automag and get a Gen-X Cocker for 35,725.99.
3) Mags suck dude.
4) He's playing on our team.
5) Mags will shoot any paint.

Some of these comments REALLY bother me as I know they bother most of you too. Numbers 1 and 2 piss me off, and 2 makes me think about suicide. When people say why did you spend so much money on a paintball gun, sometimes I dont even know how to respond. I think its that most kids my age (15-16-17) think paintball is just a game. I may not compete in paintball (yet) but that doesnt suddenly make it NOT a sport, does it? I mean you can play basketball 1v1 at any place and people call that a sport. I just dont get it, and I really wish paintball would get the respect it deserves. 75% of people I know that play paintball for the 1st time love it, but they just cant afford it. The other 25% are jocks that only play certain sports to be cool. Number 3 just takes nerve and if the person who made that comment is willing to listen, it is a matter of time before they understand what a ignorant comment it was. I have heard 4 and 5 occasionally, 4 when im with my friends, maybe becuase I do fairly well and shoot fast, and 5 from a guy who owns a local field. I have reason to believe mags shoot any paint because I used 4 month old proballs in a tipp98 and they brok every 20, but not one broke in my mag after 300 in 50 degree weather with c02.

I used to get the silent stare cuz i nas new to the field and almost every one had a cocker or impy. one kid even had the nerve to say that mags sucked. i ripped on my RT and threw almost a case of paint and ran like a wild man and bunkered 2 guys. now i get respect and every one knows me on the field and no more mags suck or shoulda got a cocker.

But you got to remember that the newbs havent realized that its not the gun, its the player yet. They constantly debate which gun is better and not who is playing better. It will come to them in time. And those people who have a cocker and who want a cocker and say everything that sucks, well, they are lost souls and should be guided back to reality

Usually when people see my Micro they don't even know what it is. Then there's the local techy who's like,"That's a sweet gun man!!" But man, when they see this thing they are ALWAYS like WHOA!!!!!! Because mine has something that most mags don't...................LOOKS!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, and I can outshoot anything(besides an E-mag)

lol its only happened once but i still like doing this. I was talking to some guys and there like what do u shoot? "a mag" o your goin on the other team and were goin to tear you and your mag up!" "okay sure u will" hahahah did i leave the E part out lol. they were like "o shiet" i was like okay im ready! heheh who got torn up. and with the warp its wicked fast!

Yeah I know, whenever people say automag or autococker people always seem to think they are automatic.

Now that I have the mini body on mine, I just tell them it's a mini retro-mag

8-10 years ago, I would get the "is it really an automatic?!" routine, but now a days, it' been something more like, "does Palmer make those?", guess the noobees at teh field I go to aren't such noobs.

ACtually, when I take most any of my unique markers, the noobees normaly just want to be on the same side/team as that "CIA guy" (or sometimes FBI). (I wear a black assault-tac. vest for rec. play). For some reason I don't get that kind of comments when I bring one of my pumpers to use as my primary marker.

I've done this before with my mini before, the newb had a ball with it, until I bunkered him with his own gun. He knew right there, that it's the player, not the marker. The only problem with doing that is when all the other newbs harrass you to lend it to them for a game. Before you know it, you've only used your own gun for one game

If you're wondering why I would lend it out to everyone, mags are tanks, and it shows that 'ballers are a great group of people and they want to become part of that for the long haul.

I had all sorts of people asking about my Emag/Warp Setup this weekend at Skirmish. They asked "how's it shoot? What's the warp like? What's that do? Is that an electronic?" And my fave- "What the h-e-double hockeysticks is that?!?!"

I even had a kid tell me that "They have all sorts of jamming problems." I proceded to empty my hopper for him. Not one misfeed or LX activation. (Thanks Jon & Tuna!) His next words? "Hey I'm gettin a warp feed!"

I even gave two 12 year olds an up-close and personal inspection. Granted, it was at the business end of it.
