    Year of the Beer

I've loved mags since I started loving paintball, so in a sense the last five years have been the "year of the mag". During our new years revelries my crew and I declared 2003 the YEAR OF THE BEER!!!!!!!!!

      1) Xmags need to get into mass production
      2) ULE Sluggos, LX, and intelliframes stock(in order to compete with the 2k3 Hinge cockers)

      Just my 2 cents...

Im right there with Pito and topSecret.

having the sluggos stock with LX and a intelliframe, AND some type of foregrip/ gas-thru (lets face it: most people pay extra for some kind of handel on a mag, when other guns come with one included wether it be a reg or just a GTF.) - - - all annoed in neat colors would definitly be the ticket.
That puts a high performance marker that LOOKS just as good as the spyder E-99 and BKO on the market. The final obstacle to overcome would be the price. Spyder e-99's and flashes can be found for less than 200. BKO's are going for below 300. whats the price on a stock cocker right now? (don't know. . refuse to do business with WGP anymore) Thats the price range that you need to shoot for.
If I an aluminum bodied, cocker threaded, blade i-framed, COLORED (at least 3 colors available) mag on the counter I could sell more of them - - especially if the price range was similar to what it is now: that would DEFINITLY help out the mag sales. (although it may not be feasable)

Right now the problem is People see a nice shiney red BKO for 299 on the wall which has an electroic triger and is 'above' any spyder class markers. Then they see the brand new stock minimag with the grey body, nothing to hold on to (i.e. foregrip) and the matte black rail w/ the the carbon fiber frame for more than the BKO.

Honestly, even though the mini is a better marker, They are getting more bang for the buck out of the BKO. Not to mention they can get that gun in their choice of color whereas they are a bit more limited on the mag.
(edit) also, to get the mag to compete with the BKO in terms of firepower they would have to add an I-frame AT LEAST-- thats another 100+ right there!!. (both guns really do better with a nice nitrosystem, so that counts to the total cost of both.)

Just my 2 cents - - - this is what I believe would help boost mag sales back up. X-mag is great, but you've got to target the lower end of the market. MUCH more guns sold in the 200-300 range than in the 1200-1400 range.

            <<< THREAD RESURECTION >>>

Well, 2003 is now half done... do you think 2003 is the "Year of the MAG" ?

Has the MAG de-throned the Intimidators, Angels, Cockers, Matrices, and Impulses at your local fields and tournaments?

It sure has not around here.

When I tote my MAG around the local paintball shops and fields, I still get the same double takes people make when they see a vintage old car driving down the road.

What's it like around your area?

            2003: Year of the MAG?

Not only that, but I fear Mags will still be little drops of water in a sea of Timmys, E-cockers, cockers, Impy's, Angels, Matrices, Bushy's...

              LOL!

              I forgot I posted this.

I know XMAGS are available at 888, but this is July. Where they in stock at 888 back in June?

NO, mags have not De-Throned anything. But everytime I say something about a mag, somone will stop and say, I saw an X mag shoot and it was the fastest gun I have ever seen. And no one disagrees. Great guns but they need something radical to get sales. Maybe just a simple sear tripping electro frame like spyders for cheap.

2003 is the matrix year. If you look at all the new products and companies developing for the matrix you would die. I base this on how popular the matrix has become since summer 2002. You can now get a freeflow bolt that gives around 1800 to 2000 shots on a 68/4500 tank. Not to mention the low pressure of the gun, rate of fire, and lack of kick makes this gun a BMF.

Guys, its 7 months into the year... this year and last have been the year of the Timmy/Impy/Trixie. If we're lucky, next year, when the Xmag production beefs up, ULE Trigger is out, and more milled Sluggs and ULE's are on the market, only then will it be the year of the mag.

Until the mag becomes more efficient I really don't see it becoming a big time gun. How many shots can you pump out of a 68/4500 on a mag?

On my E-Mag, a hopper and 7-9 tubes, depending on the fill and such.
