    Marker or Gun

do you guys/gals say "marker" or "gun". i think that gun gives a worse image of the sport to parents of players so i like saying marker, but i usually say gun just out of habit.

its all about marker. Cause a paintball gun is closer to a faucet than it is to an actual gun.

I know what you mean about calling it a gun on accident though...

        "BB Gun," "Blow Gun," etc.

So obviously, I use "gun." =)

I agree with SHartley on this one. I do not want to draw or encourage any undue scrutiny on our sport and choose to call them "markers". Like it or not, the word "gun" brings with it a certain connotation that many find unpalatable.

at the shop one time a lady was looking at buying markers for her kids for christmas and said she was uncofortable with the word 'gun'. the shop owner said "technically it's not a gun its a paintball marker" and the lady walked out with 3 of them

I always try to call it a marker as opposed to a gun, but gun is what usually slips out. I'm working on that though.

If I'm around people that know/understand about paintball, I feel free to call it a 'gun'. I know that these people won't get offended by it. But if I'm around those as inexperienced in paintball (newer players, their parents, etc.) then I'll call it a 'marker' to keep image up.

Really it depends on who exactly I am talking to.. Someone fimilar with the sport i use (gun), or someone who dosen't know anything bout the sport (makrer)

it depends. if i'm talking to my friends parents who aren't sure if they'll let my friend play, i call it a marker. any/everyone else i say gun unless i'm trying to be politically correct for some reasons (sometimes it's just better to say marker)

I say gun, for some reason, most of the time saying 'marker' seems weird duno why. And the general public doesnt know what I ever seem to be talking about when I say marker.
