Sale of the Century?

Rumor has it that one of tha industry's big boys has been bought out. Our sources are staying tight lipped, so we don't know if the purchaser is a company new to Paintball, or an existing manufacturer/distributor, or even K2 looking to extend their powerbase further, but we anticipate being able to let y'all know more soon in tha next coupla days...

Interesting that Tom has positively stated it isn't AGD...if it might have been he would have said nothing
Planet Eclipse...possible, but then they aren't as big as people would like to think...sure everyone who deals with Cockers now offers an eblade frame but effectively they are an aftermarket provider, Plus they are an English company and so far we haven't heard anything about it and the promotion of Planet (on a different subject has still been going on so silence is often a better way when a deal is the air)

WDP...possible but unlikely due to the some of the same reasons of Planet (although WDP are makers and do have a big market share)
NPS....difficult one here as they are distributers for many other rivals so unless it is NPS doing the buying I don't think they will be the target.
Kingman...love them or hate them their turn over is immense.
Raven..tied to Kingman already AFAIK.
XO Industries They are not newcomers but a recently formed company from another already established one.

Another one to add in...what about a merger? WDP and Smart Parts..already together with the Patent issue..though tournament promotion rivalry might well discount this.

So there are a few more for you to chew over oh and SCpoloRicker I know what you mean I have been in that postion myself a couple of times the difference was that I didn't post...see what I mean about silence.

Market share in senario is huge but although the senario market is one for grass roots advancement...their numbers sold are not high enough to really be a target...very inline with Planet..albeit they aim at different sectors of the market..so it was a deliberate exclusion
From my understanding of the Tippman as a marker...you buy it, you don't buy another as it is bullet proof (not litrally but..)

Tippmann is a wonderful company, but they recently sold out to some big conglomerate too. Not K2, but something similar.

It IS amazing, I know. But I took a year or so off to work on some business projects and now it looks like I'm back to spending a lot (too much) of my disposable income on this game.

And to stick with the thread, Thanks for the update Tom, I wish there was a way to get the AGD name out there more, but that's really been the same problem for the past 6 or 8 years. Products don't really sell themselves - beta was better than VHS but it didn't sell, Macs are better than PCs (Don't flame, just my experience), but they don't sell. that's the way of the world I guess. All you can do is support the companies you believe in.

K2's brands, include Rawlings, Worth, Shakespeare, Pflueger, Brass Eagle, Worr Games, Stearns, K2, Ride, Olin and Morrow, Tubbs, and Atlas. They're huge.

yeah, if the quality could be kept up... it wouldn't be too bad- economy of scale would prob allow lower prices and like chronobreak said, mags need a bigger and better image - from advertising and sponsorships. Of course, that all takes money.

Having thought about this subject over a day, I hope that what ever the outcome may be that the industry will finally get off the litigation bandwagon and start focusing in on the real issue on hand.

So far, the only company that's really done anything groundbreaking and aimed at making the sport safer and more accesible to more people is NPS.....the company that everyone seems to want to hate.

k2 is a reputable company.

mags cant be made like cockers can.shotty and not to spec. theyr requite good machines and competent machinist.

any feeble attempt would be a disaster.

if a purchasing company kept everything to spec i wouldd ahve no problems with that. ex if they maybe ADVERTISED!
