Most over-hyped gun?

DM4s are not over rated. Mine shoots better than any of the other guns Ive owned, including my viking, and my EMAG, and my Ion, and any timmy or angel I shot. Its the quietest Ive shot, fast as all, upgrades w/ just a chip instead of a board, low maintainance, easy bolt access, internal eyes, accurate, fairly efficient w/ other bolts, I have the orange bolt in mine, and it is freaking fabulous. Less kick than any gun ive shot. Whats overrated about that?


Id say on this site, the most overrated gun is mags, but its a mag website. We arent talking about this site alone, but the entire paintball community.

If we are talking the entire community, then Shockers, Timmys, and ANgels are the three most overrated guns there are.

I really cannot comment about any overrated markers. Never used anything but a mechanical gun, so I have no experience at all with all these electro-guns. I do wish there wasn't so much emphasis on ROF, instead focusing on team-play and tactics.

Underrated:

Mechanical markers such as the 'Mag and others that are pure simplicity of design. Yes, that even includes my ol' Tippmann M98C. It was a gas hog, weighed a ton, and was none too stylish (not that I care). But it was super-reliable, could be dropped in a stream, picked up, shaken out (and remove the wet paintballs), and it would just work. Rate of fire? None too fast, but then I play woodsball so that doesn't matter too much.

Definately underrated:

Pumps of any kind. Still have my old "Thunder Pig" pump and it still works just fine.

No, wraths are nothing like actual high end guns. Wraths still shoot just like a spyder...

wraths are a lot closer to timmies than spyders. i've used one, albeit briefly, but it impressed the hell out of me. i figured it wouldn't be much better than an espyder to be honost, but i actually liked it more than my friends stock imp.

i dunno yakitori, the dm4's are good, but they're not THAT good like people make them out to be. but thats just my opinion. it really didn't feel any better than a g7. but when your paying over $1000 for a marker, they're all going to feel really really nice....

People tend to forget that those teams are being paid to use those markers, and most if they are caught using anything else lose their sponsership. If I'm going to spend the $, then I want something I like, not something a pro is pushing.

I love the simplistic theory... so, umm the Blade - not used by pros, must be underrated by your theory right? I think that theory is BS personally, I doubt very many people can even tell you what pro team is shooting what at the local field.

underrated- anything thats not going with the current trend, AGD, Palmers, etc.

overrated and overhyped- Dye markers, Smartpart markers.

Then, if there is indeed a sponsored team using Blade markers they are doing an incredibly poor job. Being overhyped requires successful application of hype, not just the attempt...

Here's another underated one.

That "The One" Dragon thing or whatever the hell it was. My Cousin John had one with some kind of ramping chip in it and it was pretty damn impressive for under $280. Then again, by time he was done with it he had like $600 in it, but it was still a nice little gun. The only downside to it was the eye. It had a reflecitive eye that couldnt see dark shells to save its life.

I see alot of love here for the Cyborg. I really would like to shoot one, but I've never seen one on the field yet.

What I am getting at is your argument does not follow logic. It states that if a sponsored team (you said pro) is using it it instantly becomes overhyped for that reason alone. You then argued that because it was there job to hype the marker it must be overhyped - instantly granting them success at that job and in fact so much success that it becomes overhyped.

I simply questioned your, what I see as simplistic, idea that any marker a pro team uses instantly becomes overrated and overhyped, and if a pro team does not use it it is underrated.
