No, not a 1911. Seems to be a Beretta.Originally posted by warbeak2099Oh cmon, that's not a gangsta gun. It's a colt .45 with walnut grips or a replica of one. Now that's a classy sidearm, not some trashy ghetto gun. No homey would be packing a fine peice like that. They'd be walking around with a glock or some other kind of "nine". No, the 1911A1 is a real man's sidearm. Not some loser punk gangsta.

Looked more like a Browning hi-power or a CZ-75 to me, but its not really clear what the heck it is. Agreed though, it aint a 1911.Comment

Statistics and correlational studies regarding exposure to violence disagree with you.Originally posted by warbeak2099Yea, it is also depicting a classy weapon in a gangsta context. W/e, some people can handle some things and other can't. I think it's ridiculous to say that those pictures or any other kind of similar advertising are going to make young kids become gangstas and go around popping caps in other people. Most of the Aggers are rich little white kids who live in American suburbia. It's like saying violent video games leads to violent behavior. There is absolutely no correlation between the two. I play GTA and tons of other violent games. I'm probably the most gentle person I know. Except when I get into political debates...Comment

You know, when I posted this thread, I honestly expected about 90% of the responders to call me an idiot. I must say I'm pleasantly surprised.Comment

I got the same PM as well, already got a second response and am waiting on a third.
btw hitech, your thread is closed lol
Here is what our conversations has gone to so far, perhaps somone should start a thread in paintball talk?
Originally posted by kai83The ogininator of a particular thread is who is to state the topic...Originally posted by Arstronif it is off topic to talk about the picture in the original thread, then isn't the original thread off topic as well? I think it does give macdev a bad image, but my complaint is the lack of being able to discuse this as a macdev topic. it would be off topic in the airsoft forums as well as it is about macdev also.
Paintball talk would probably have no problem with itLast edited by Arstron; 01-24-2006, 06:09 PM.Comment

LOL, Macdev guys flamed hitech to no end, and Kai takes offense to something hitech said. Just goes to show that being a moderator does not necessarily mean that one is mature.
And I had just finished a fine post too, dang.
Seriously, for all the talk of what a "mature" forum this is, I have seen nothing but sorry flames and insults in response to hitech's post.
You want to attack someone, attack me. I'm the one who mentioned the picture, and lead everyone to the macdev forum. Know why I was on the macdev forum? Because I love the cyborg, and was browsing for info on the 06, as I was a big fan of my 05.
Over in Australia something like that might be a big joke, but in the US its anything but. Do you Australians know that a kid was recently shot to death by police for pointing an airsoft-type gun at officers? Did you know that happens with alarming frequency? We value our ability to own firearms, but with that privilage comes responsibility. They are not to be treated casually, as punch lines in some sort of visual jokes. They are weapons designed to kill things, and must be afforded the upmost respect.
I'm sure everyone must have noticed how much overtly aggressive behavior is valued in this sport. The sensationalistic paintball videos I have seen place an emphasis on fist-fights and trash talk. Ultra-violent characters like "Hitman" and Pachino's "Scarface" are idolized. Phrases like "Assasin," "Straight Killers," "Killing," and "gat" are tossed around like some sort of joke. Aggressive behavior on the field is almost commonplace now, with shouting, shoving, and foul language cropping up with alarming frequency, even amount young players. Our sport is dogged by accusations of being too violent and militaristic, yet instead of trying to distance ourselves from those accusations, our sport seems to be embracing them.
Young kids are very impressionable. James, as a respected representative of an excellent manufacturer, is looked up to by many people. Shouldn't such a prominent figure make every effort to put a good face on the sport, and take pains to ensure that nothing he does brings negative attention to our sport, or sends the wrong message to kids playing the sport.
And if you think that this will just be some sort of "inside joke" on the forum, think again. Recently, the US and India held an air exercise called "COPE India 2005." A couple of US pilots made a few comments about it on an obscure f16 forum. Next thing you know, their comments were being publicized in the mainstream media. Though their comments were quickly deleted, they caused quite a few headaches for the US military. If I post something here, thats one thing. But a major manufacturer, who should be an ambassador of the sport?
Oh, and as for Bunkerking and Hybrid doing bad stuff to, just remember; Two wrongs don't make a right. 'Nuff said.Comment

Start a new thread. The moderator invited "us" to do just that.Originally posted by SteelratAnd I had just finished a fine post too, dang.
Besides, that was a well written post.
Sad to see it wasted.
