Mags are expensive for the same reason Mercedes Benz are expensive. Sure you could drive something cheaper, but you can damn well be sure its not going to be as nice. There is just a certain quality you get with a mag, that you dont get with an Ion. It doesnt make the Ion any worse, just different.
I guess its just one of those things....you either "get it" or you dont.Comment

you get what you pay for! AGD slogan: quality always shoots straight! here in the UK after a long absence we have one place selleng a "euro mag" http://www.fatbobspaintball.co.uk/ac...n_Designs.html
for $700 now thaen after a huge break its good to see a UK supplier re-stocking the MAG even at that price. it comes in a twice the price of an electro (ion,PMRUsed etek EGO) yet still sells. how many times has a mag not been used in a couple of years and needs the occasional o-ring and a couple of drops of oil. i left paintball for a 10 year break and wish i kept my mini-mag as it would have workeed still now. Its the design they hit it right years ago and deserve the rewards (AGD) its still a compact marker and still the best valve ( IMO ) going. 3000psi and all the workings in ONE valve. They wrote a great design breif and forfilled it exellently.
At the UK'S biggest game 980players i droped my PMR & EGO in favour of my mag!

Mag parts are expensive because A.) your paying for the name and B.) your paying for quality...
I have been a very big gun whore for many years... I have owned basically almost every type of marker made since 2000... from Shoebox shocker, to impys to new style shockers... from mech mags to e-mags to x-mags to SFL E-mags (the doo doo brown one I had)... Mech cocker, electro cockers... Viking and excaliburs... all of bob longs markers... all different matrices... Angels... Egos... ETC...
heres my point:
I have 2 markers that have NEVER let me down... my JMJ Crusader Viking and my mech mag... right now my "top" marker is my Marq 7 Rapper but I really dont trust it that much... most of the time in speedball I use my A-bomb timmy or my viking over it...
But as far as quality goes... give me a AGD or AKA product anyday... you just have to give them minimal maintenance and they will perform beautifully for many years...
If you are just getting into the sport and not sure if you will be "hooked" get an Ion... but if you love playing paintball and want a gun to last you a lifetime, get a mag...CLICK TO AIM ME!!!

mags are expensive because they arn't produced in huge quantities, and they are just awesome guns.
there are people that have had classics mags for years that they havn't shot for years, pull the gun out, put some oil in the asa, put air into it and it'll shoot.

Ive had electros and all kind of fast firing markers and a variety of mechguns including 4 mags. One of them I still own and will never sell. I find that Im a lot less proficient with the electros and never seem to hit anthing. But give me my mag with a warp feed and bam. Getting out people left and right. Best part is I know it will work. It all goes to how omfortable you are with your equipment. Mechs can almost always take on electro's depending on the operator. I know the other day, my classic valved non ULT'd chimera framed mag was able to fire just as fast as the 3 round burst on my friend spyder flash. I could shoot 3 balls in about the same time he could just holding down the trigger. Which brings me to my next point. Somtihng the mag has that the ion could never hope to have is a lvl 10 bolt. So far im on my 3rd case with no chops. and I dont know about you guys but not chopping is worth its weight in gold to me. I cant tell you how many ion toting players I see putting those terrible battle swabs into their barrels after chopping up a whole string of paint. As for the money part...HECK YES ITS EXPENSIVE! Ive got over $500 into my gun and still have to pneumag it. However, If need be, I know I can keep this gun and it will last. Theres no electronics to go bad on it or timing issues. It will always work with some gun oil or a 10$ rebuild kit 10 years down the road as it did today. PLus im happy with it. Its my dream gun and I couldnt be happier.

The shining star of my paintball collection.
In my opinion- Reliability+no chops > Faster unaccurate shooting + breaks. Breaks make your day miserable.Comment

I would just like to add that i have a 13 year old mag and have only had to put new O-rings and newer style bolts on it. So i am thinking that you do get what you pay for. Also it is how you play the game. i have taken out Ions with my 14 year old pump hammer.
Thay didnt like that. Dumb dumbs ran out of paint and took em out while they were reloading. I was shoked that the 3 of them didnt make a move on me.
