OK, I am just trying to just trying to get a feel for a need here. What I am looking for is opinions on something that I am thinking about offering to Emag and Xmag owners. I am in the process of doing a little custom work on an Xmag that I have, and one of the things that I have done is made a custom wood grip for it. I made it out of Kingwood, looks kinda like walnut, but a different grain. I got to thinking, there are very few options for grip panels for the E and X mag. There are the Carbon grips, the aluminum grips, and the plastic grips. All fine grips, and each has a place. But, to me, there is nothing that just looks as good as a fine piece of wood. Each set would be completly unique. And, there are some pretty exotic woods out there, some with incredible grains that just are stunning. Some are colored, like snow white, purple, red, just to name a few. I am at work right now and dont have access to pics, but will post up pics later tonight to give you an idea of what I am talking about. The pics will show a raw, unfinished set, my first attempt. But, with the proper tools, I can make it better. And they can be sealed to be water proof.
I also know how these things work, lots of guys say that they want something and never come thru. But this is really to see if there is any interest in doing this at all. I can get set up fairly cheaply. Also, I can do it two ways. I can buy the wood, make them, and then sell them. Or, you can buy the wood that you like, send it to me and then I make them with your wood. If you elect to buy your own wood, then, I can tell you what limitations there are and what size that you need to buy.
Just give me your thoughts.....Pros and Cons.
This first pic is of a mostly finished set. I have some sanding to do to finish it out. The smudge on the left side scale is, a low place in the wood. The different grains in the wood make sanding smooth a high drama thing. Some areas are softer than others. Also, notice that the display opening is kinda rough. The mistake that I made with this is I waited until I had the panel cut and shaped before I cut out the display opening. I know now that I must cut the opening before I finish out the curve of the grip panel.

This next image shows the display opening a bit better. This was the first one, so the mistakes are being made on this one.

Also, this is Kingwood. There is no stain or sealant on this. Sanded and sealed, it will look just a little different. I plan on putting a Satin finish on this, just to keep the glare down. Also, the actual wood is darker than shown in the pics. I am not a photographer, so the lighting was wrong. Anyway, you guys get the idea.
