    I bow to you....

    Kruger...

Not sure if you saw my post for my X-mag in MOTM... I can't make grips to do this thing justice...it's beyond my skills.

Hit me up on IMs or PM, I have some fresh blanks coming, and would like to have you make a fine set of Bloodwood grips for me if possible.

    Thanks

That wont be a problem Rudz. Was just looking at more wood tonight and there is just about any natural color that you can think of to be had. Anything from solid black to solid white and everything in between. Most comes from South America, but if you do a google on Osage Orange and check the color, it may be just what you are looking for. PM me and let me know.

Folks, this little project should be up and running by Monday and I will be ready to take orders. I really do thank you for all your interest, and I will try to make a grip that you will be proud to bolt to your markers.
WOW, sigs. Havent seen these in a while here on AO.

I would pay more than 50 dollars for some e-mag grips with a thumb rail and finger grooves. Either way, I definetly will be getting you to make me something special

            palm swells?

Anyone use grips wiht apalm swell where the grips actually go from thin to fat to thin from the tom down, as well as have a rounded top?

I was testing out a pair of Hogue panels with palm swell, and wow, they were really comfortable - you willing to give that shape a shot on mine Kruger?

Its not so much a thumb rest, but just a hump in the grip panel.

How thin will they end up being? I have some regular plastic ones and some others from luke and they are pretty thin.

Well, Sleepingbeauty, at this time, I dont forsee me being able to do the finger grooved grip panel. As I stated before, there is more to doing that than you realize. But, if I do see a way for me to do it then I will post up and let everybody know.

                Styg..I will PM you

Eddie...OK, here is the deal with the grips. One of the things that I have to take into consideration is the thickness of the wood. The metal and the plastic panels can be thinner. There is a higher crush strength ration than in wood. I have to make sure that there is enough wood under the screw to hold the panels, and to get the screw head below the level of the grip. Right now, the way that I am doing the panels is drilling the hole and recessing it so that the screw head is below the level of the grip panel. With 1/4in. stuff, there is not a lot to work with. The thicker stuff is also a problem, in that I have more wood to work with, but the stock grip screw is pretty short. So, for the thicker stuff, I will supply longer screws, with a flat head. It is a socket head and the screw looks like a "T", the top is not rounded off. If I make the panels too thin, then there is a chance that one of you big manly guys will crush the wood when you put the grip on. Neither of us wants that. So, for the 1/4 inch stuff, there is very little that I can comfortably remove. Unless I dont countersink the screw hole, which will leave the screw head above the level of the grip panel. But, the screw is only about a 1/4 inch long. So, I would have to really have to use thin stock, and remember, these are wood, and the danger of the panels breaking are just too great with the thin stuff. 1/4 is about as small as I care to make them. There are of course, exceptions to this.

Finished Heartwood set. Took pics in the sunlight, and they still dont look as red as they are in person.

I know that the display window looks crooked, but it aint. Its just the way that the light is on it. This set is near perfect.

Just so happens that I am working on the Burl set. Not finished, takin it slow on that wood. I have a thread in the dealer section of th forums located here:

                                http://automags.org/forums/showthread.php?t=204620

It gives you all the pert. information.

I will say this, the Burl is NOT cheap. And because it is so expensive, I probably wont buy anymore of that stuff. It is something that should be picked out by the customer, not me. I cannot afford to have that type of wood just laying around. But, that set will be availible very soon. Look foreward to hearing from you soon
