It is used when needed for clarity or style, dropped when not. That's why you didn't know Hillary's middle name was Diane but everyone knows Dubya's middle initial is W. Yes some people do use it for looks.

And the only possible way to "use a name in public" is to say it while introducing yourself to someone? No. See below.

Wrong. Both used their middle names (initials) publically. JFK was public shorthand to distinguish him from RFK.

Again, there is zero chance you don't know this. You know as well as everyone else that using the name "Hussein" appeals to xenophobic fears among ignorant/conservative Americans.

Like when you were a kid and your mom used your full name when she caught you doing something really bad!

            Ha, John Kerry started it.

But to more important matters, while I don't have any preference between ninjas and pirates, when the global ice caps melt, the pirates will have more high seas to ply while the ninjas will be drowned by the rising ocean levels.

As for this notion that the sun's cooling has a greater effect, im pretty sure that's bogus. Yes the sun will cool, but not in our lifetime, and not rapidly enough for the change to be noticed in the past century.

Gore's movie "An inconvenient truth" goes about all of this with pretty hard evidence and imo is actually pretty interesting. And i've learned that not every published article can be trusted, especially when in "popular" media though i dunno how reputable the site u got that from is.
                  QFT.

Global warming is a misnomer in some respects. For instance, if/when the polar ice caps melt, possibly stopping the Gulf Stream thermohaline circulation (look it up), it could cause global cooling in some parts of the world. Unfortunately, this would come at the cost of massive instability of temperature and climate in general.

Read the news. There will always be two sides to any argument (inherently). Read both sides and choose which one makes sense. That's all I can ask.

Also, all the "lieberal" comments are quite annoying. I know this won't stop them, but I would appreciate if we could more often discuss our beliefs without resorting to attacking the other group's political choices. This goes for the comment made about "voting for Obama with all the rest of them" as well, as if voting for Obama was like jumping on the bandwagon.

So, BiNumber3, ever think it's possible your professor is biased? Just throwing it out there. For you to mull over a little. Maybe. Eh...

I'm sure everyone has their biases, but i believe i at least try to hear what each side has to say without my own bias.
As for my teacher, well, he knows a lot more about planets and their atmosphere's than i do, the class is an upper division astronomy course on planets and their atmospheres.

But the best thing anyone can do is to do their own research on this stuff, learn what exactly the "greenhouse" effect is, find statistics on co2 levels (there are other gases that contribute but co2's the big player) across the century and compare those to stats on temperature and weather.

John Kerry was the first politician I can remember who made a very pointed, public reference to Obama's middle name. Before most people had heard Obama's middle name is Hussein, Kerry made a point of publicly but unnecessarily commenting he liked the name. It seemed extremely contrived the way it came out, kind of like he was intentionally poisoning the waters.

Gotcha. I guess I do vaguely remember that. That's kind of funny looking back on, seeing all the campaigning he's doing for Obama now.
