        Let it go? Never!

Researcher: Basic Greenhouse Equations "Totally Wrong"

Miskolczi's story reads like a book. Looking at a series of differential equations for the greenhouse effect, he noticed the solution -- originally done in 1922 by Arthur Milne, but still used by climate researchers today -- ignored boundary conditions by assuming an "infinitely thick" atmosphere. Similar assumptions are common when solving differential equations; they simplify the calculations and often result in a result that still very closely matches reality. But not always.

So Miskolczi re-derived the solution, this time using the proper boundary conditions for an atmosphere that is not infinite. His result included a new term, which acts as a negative feedback to counter the positive forcing. At low levels, the new term means a small difference ... but as greenhouse gases rise, the negative feedback predominates, forcing values back down.

NASA refused to release the results. Miskolczi believes their motivation is simple. "Money", he tells DailyTech. Research that contradicts the view of an impending crisis jeopardizes funding, not only for his own atmosphere-monitoring project, but all climate-change research. Currently, funding for climate research tops $5 billion per year.

Miskolczi resigned in protest, stating in his resignation letter, "Unfortunately my working relationship with my NASA supervisors eroded to a level that I am not able to tolerate. My idea of the freedom of science cannot coexist with the recent NASA practice of handling new climate change related scientific results."

His theory was eventually published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal in his home country of Hungary.

The conclusions are supported by research published in the Journal of Geophysical Research last year from Steven Schwartz of Brookhaven National Labs, who gave statistical evidence that the Earth's response to carbon dioxide was grossly overstated. It also helps to explain why current global climate models continually predict more warming than actually measured.

        ....

Miskowlczi has used his theory to model not only Earth, but the Martian atmosphere as well, showing what he claims is an extremely good fit with observational results. For now, the data for Venus is too limited for similar analysis, but Miskolczi hopes it will one day be possible.

No, I choose a cartoon reference because criticizing some ones spelling on a forum is so 5th grade I though that surly you'd get the point.

Cool, then maybe you could ask him why surface temps on the other planets are increasing as well. I'm guessing we are outsourcing our greenhouse gases and the decrease in the number of pirates is now a celestial catastrophe. I remember college too, but I would never give a prof credit carte blanche for his/her vast knowledge (upper level classes usually are more theoretical, my women's studies class comes to mind ). They usually prove their statements in the books they chose for their own class (some they even wrote!).

Trust but verify, as you stated... kinda.

I'm 40 years old living in S.W. Ontario Canada...I have lived my whole life in this area....This area is considered the Snow belt.....the prevailing winds blow over the great lakes and deposit a crap load of snow in the area....This year is the first 1 in years that we have had allot of snow , but nowhere near what we used to have...in the 70's and early 80's I had to take a long pole with me to lift up the hydro lines in order to go under them with my snowmobile....so any1 trying to tell me that the planet is cooling...Go do yourself....I don't need any scientist telling me their theories on global heating and or cooling...crap is heating up and we need to keep doing what we have been doing....in my opinion this winter is the end result that we are making a difference in preventing global warming...lately winters here have sucked...being able to see green grass Christmas morning is depressing...

                        Thats my 2cents worth

Its funny, because avoiding the swearing filter is just as much against the rules as political posts, yet goons like tuna and bornl33t can come on here and spout off crap like they think theyre Anne Coulter and I get banned for calling them on it.

dude, you should be a pirate! refer to the graph on page 1, i bet if you get your whole family and all your relatives to be pirates; that you could probably single handedly help bring the snow back to the snowbelt.

First i've heard of increasing global average temps on other planets, source on that info, so i might check it out?

As for women's studies, i think all classes concerning anything from philosophy to writing and everything in between tend to be iffy on their various subjects. I find contradicting claims everywhere here:P
