Oh, and Steelrat - bolt action all the way. Its analogous to semi vs. pump, heh. I myself am trying to decide if my next build should be another AR variant (tuned for long-range accuracy) or a classical hunting-style rifle of some breed.

Go with a bolt action. Its nice to have a variety. I was lucky enough to pick up a Remington 700LTR in .308 with a harris bipod, and a leupold scope for $700 last year. One of those deals you cant pass up.

And for Legume,
Having put together an AR from parts, be careful of those little detent pins. The front pivot pin is loads of fun.

I could have bought an LTR at below dealer cost from Remington because I took the 870 armorer's course, but I let my coupon expire I'll have to wait until recert to get a new one. The good news is that during recert, we learn how to tech the 700 and 1100 in addition to the 870.
