Go with a bolt action. Its nice to have a variety. I was lucky enough to pick up a Remington 700LTR in .308 with a harris bipod, and a leupold scope for $700 last year. One of those deals you cant pass up.

Having put together an AR from parts, be careful of those little detent pins. The front pivot pin is loads of fun.

its a PA-63, a Walther PPK clone made by FEG that was blown up to use 9mm Makarov and used by the Hungarian Military and Police. neat little pistol, got it for $150. its got an aluminum alloy frame, that's why its two-tone.

Where are you guys buying parts from? I was looking at buying a Panther Arms LM-308 when I get back from Iraq. Is it cheaper to build or buy? I am an armorer for the Army so putting it together is not a problem.

i got my parts from Del-ton, but you can find them anywhere. its cheaper to build, and you get exactly what your looking for.

you can get the kit there. it has everything but a stripped lower receiver, which you have to buy at a gun store, or have one shipped there, as its the part that's considered a "gun" so you have to do your paperwork for it. then you can assemble the lower and slap on the upper half and your good to go. you can also buy the upper on pieces and put that together, which I'm sure wont be any trouble for you, and save a little more money that way.
