So governor Desantis keeps asking the Florida legislator to make a bill for the people to vote on, to eliminate property taxes on homesteads.

This would need a 60 percent vote of the constituents to change the Florida constitution.

Neither Democrats nor Republicans in the legislator want this, even the Trump anointed Byron Donalds is against it [he wont get my vote for governor].

As property values increase, many seniors on a fixed income can no longer afford to pay the property taxes, many lose their homes, so this would be a great thing here in seniorville.

So what they have done is put 8 bills out to vote on so that no one bill will get enough votes to change the constitution.

The uniparty is not for the good of the people no matter what state you live in.

This would only be for homesteads, meaning primary residences only, not those who own multiple properties, and not for commercial property, so there would still be a large amount of property taxes being paid.

One Tampa legislator gets over 100k a year from property taxes so you maybe can see, its all about their pockets, not helping constituents.

Ive always wondered what do we replace the realestate tax with? How was it done before real estate taxes existed?

Relevant anecdote.
I bought my first house from my father, who bought it from his father. This was in CT.
I paid more to the State in yearly property tax than my grandfather had originally paid for the house.
Perhaps real estate taxes are different from property tax; I was paying $120 yearly tax for my '97 Ford Ranger up north. Moved to VA. and it was less than $10.
As mentioned, not all homes qualify as a "homestead" unless they change the definition of the word.

How did the Government run in 1912 before income tax was implemented?

I understand America First, I approve it. Not immigrants given apartments while homeless Veterans sleep on the streets.

There was a reason that during the World Wars, America spent millions of dollars to fight over there. We didn't want to fight them here.
Which is why we maintain Military airbases and ports at strategic places around the World. Our Allies. Most of whom belong to NATO.
To sever those ties might jeopardize our own defenses.

But looking around at places like Dearborn or NY, I'd speculate that our defense wasn't quite good enough.
