yeah, cyclones are fast. A buddy at work has one. But one of my closer friends bought a 2001 SVT lightning. 13.8 sec 1/4 mile from the factory!!!! IN a TRUCK! It's fast! Stock z28's of the same year are toast on the 1/4.

You can't compare a stock z28 with an SVT Lightning. Do you know why? Because a Lighing is NOT a stock vehicle. It is heavily modded.Comment

Actually, yeah it is stock. They both roll out of the factory the same way.
If not then you can't say a Z28 is stock either... it's just a souped up camero, more so then a lighting. Why?
A lighting is a lightning. a z28 is a camero with a z28 badge indicating it's a modified camero. But I don't recall the lighting having a F-150 badge on it anywhere but I may be wrong.
Either way, you're right, they can't be compared. The z28 is a car the lighting is a turck which makes it even more impressive that it can do 13.8 1/4 mileComment

Fastest production car??? Come on...Originally posted by SUN WARRIOR
People don't buy corvettes to "trick out" (unless your last name is Callaway). People buy them because they are the fastest production cars available (within a reasonable price range).
I could get an M series BMW that's about the same price as a Vette and still faster...
On the other hand there's actually a Vette that noone can touch... It's called the Callaway Sledgehammer, fastest street-legal car in the world (to the best of my knowledge). Top speed 412KPH.black Xtreme Emag
LVL 10 inside, warp feed left setup
green warp feed and green 12V Revvy with X-board (melted for warp hose)
14" Freak kit
Triggernomics blade trigger
AGD flatline 4.5k 68cui with green tank cover
green LED Display (thanks Have Blue)
clear grips with custom sledgehammer logo (made by Load SM5)
to do list:
- Get Triggernomics custom milling
- Get Custom AnnoComment

It makes it more impressive because it's a truck? Man, there are two trucks on this street. One has a 427 (with a whole lotta other stuff). It does the 1/4 in low 10's. The other one (540 with even better stuff and it has 1000hp) does the 1/4 in low 7's. He can improve that time too.
On a lightning, the "Lightning" is where the F-150 would be.Comment

eeeeh rice burners suck. I don't hate jap cars, the 300zx and 3000gt and such are great cars. Civics with thousands of dollars into upgrades and other **** like that piss me off. Then the kid with this $5 car and $23000 of upgrades smokes an american car and thinks his little car is the best. When you turbo an engine you lose a lot of engine life. NOS is horrible. Sure you get tons of horse out of it but your engine is going to hate you for the rest of its life. Adding so much compression is so bad for a car. These kids just throw a turbo on a civic, don't do anything to strengthen it, 10k miles later the piston rods blow straight out the oil pan, and they wonder why. I like porsches. Go for handling, screw the 0-60! (even though a porsche would whoop the *** of any rice rocket out there) Hey they cost a lot but come on, its sooo nice
My truck is louder than yours. A lot louder.

i have a kid in my school that drives a stock 99 sunfire (fully loaded). i drive a stock 99 cougar (fully loaded also). he is always smack talking my car and how his is better. let's take a look at the engine specs:
his:
-2.4 liter
-4 cyl
-110 h/p
-8 valve
-single cam
-standard sized manifold
-automatic trans (3 or 4 speed, not sure)
-redline at 6000 rpm
mine:
-2.5 liters
-V6
-180 h/p
-24 valve
-dual cams
-oversized manifold
-4 speed auto trans
-redline at 8000 rpm
you tell me which would be faster. keep in mind that both weigh closely the same (some difference, but not enough to change alot). then he was trying to say that his car costs more.
his: $15,000
mine: $23,500
sure if he stuck the extra $8,500 into mods it would be faster, but then again, why modify a car that is cheap. i wished i owned a muscle car. for now i will just add minor mods to my car (borla, hyper chip, cold air, cosmetics, etc.). eventually i want to own a mustang, corevette, and trans am. i also want an m3. my friend's dad has one and he drives it only for racing. i love that car. no offence to owners of rice rockets, but i hate them. there are few japanese cars that are acctually good. Motor Trend took a focus (stock) modified the engine and got 410 hp out of it. they put it against a vette and said that if they did to the vette what they did to the focus they would get 833 hp out of the vette. so take a civic, mod it up to 400 hp, take a true muscle car (chevele ss), do the same mods, then race. plus it's harder to blow an american made big block than to blow a tin foil rattler.
another car that is extremely fast is the 5.0. my boss owns 3 of them and let me tell you, they are fast. try one of those against a sooped up civic (no NOS).
just my 2 cents worth (kinda babbled) :)I'm not anti-social, I just don't like you.Comment

I have to admit
Even though its not real bad i guess u can call my vehicle a ricer. Its a 79 toyota pickup. All stock and slow as hell.It can hardly even spin the tires although i can still scrath second sometimes.I dont know if its my clutch thats junk or just not enough power. Brand new it was producing 95 hp but that was 20 something years ago. Im losing so much compression its not even funny. Im thinking abouta progressive carb in it but stupid paintball cost so much money i hardly got any to spare. I would love a muscle car espically a ford just to shut people down. For some reason everone thinks fords are really ****ty.I hate all the poop shooting hondas and what not who think there super fast with their intake headers and exhaust. Having a lightning would be the ****s. Pull up to the stop light and rev out some ricer. The guy would probally be like "a ford f150 what is this guy thinking" then the light turns green and your gone leaving the guy screaming his bumble bee in first. That would be so classic.Man i rambled on in this post.Comment

I think it's time we enstate a rule in this thread that you can only post if you A. Own a car, and B. Know what you're talking about. Seems as though quite a few people come on here and make outlandish comments and don't back them up, and I starting to beleive that only 1/2 the people that have posted actually own cars (cars bought by mommy and daddy don't count NikMann heheh).Shoot it like you stole it!

One of these days I'm going to go down town with a camera for the soul purpous of letting Stupid ppl have it. I saw a z34 today with an exaust that would put a nascar driver to shame ( well you know what I mean ). This thing had 2 HUGE SS mufflers that were so big they were almost on the ground. There's no way that car can clear a dip in the road without bottoming out. And the tips were just about as big around as the mufflers. The car was sitting low in the back, either sandbags (it's supposed to snow soon), bad struts or just the weight of all that shiney stuff...
Muscle often try to hide the exaust tips in sideskirts or dumps, ricers try to make it visible. And by the way, for anyone who thinks this will increase performance, modern injected cars starting around the early 90's NEED backpreshure to run spec. Unless you have done some Major work to you're engine you are only hurting yourself when you remove cats or muffler.Comment
