I just found out I have two cousins who were called in. One is in the Air Force, while the other is in the Army...a West Point graduate. They are now being trained and will soon be flown out. I wish all the men and women a safe return.

They all have my support, my thoughts and prayers.

I have a link to the video, it's graphic, disturbing and certainly looks like execution style shootings.

the wounds on the servicemen are in the forehead on at least two of them, and are PLAINLY visible as gunshots.

there is also visual evidence of mutilation of the privates on the servicemen. on several of the bodies the Iraqis are seen pullng the pants back up on the servicemen, but not before you can see evidence of mutilations.

      they oughta be friggin NUKED.

I would like to agree with you, Facts, but there are too many innocent people over there.

And, for those of you who think that this war is about oil--you need to bring a lawsuit against your school district--for failing to provide you with an adequate education!

Phaze, yes there are. But after watching the video, I almost don't care anymore.

Well one thing is for sure if you end up going there do not surrender. Go down fighting. These people are acting like animals.

Seems we had a gastly friendly fire incident last night. Two groups of Marines sent to respond to some fire on a convoy ended up engaging each other. No immediate deaths but a lot of injured. Some kind of miss communtication sending two if them in not knowing the other was too.

UN Ambassador for the US gets up and walks out when Iraq rants and raves about us "exterminating" thousands of Civilians.

No evidence it was our missle that hit that market.

Press coverage seems to be irritating the Protestors who are not accusing them of covering the war with a pro Aliance slant. They would be saying other things if we had not proof in there. I find it ironic that the press is being portrayed as "hawkish" don't you?

More chemical suits being found all over the place.

The convoy of Iraqis that left out of Basra yesterday and was bombed to kingdom come seems to have been forced to do it by the Fanatics. Supposedly they are threatening thier childrens lives if they do not fight and this group left to thier own demise for some reason no one can ever understand. It was suicide and maybe forced by the Saddam thugs.

We bombing the heck out of them now.

              Cphilip,

Just curios, how much do you americans hear about protests on the news in the average day? Here in Canada i hear about them a lot on the major canadian news stations.

We hear em every day too pretty much. They get more percentage of coverage than they occur realy. If 50 people show up its shown as a mob. They are dwindling in numbers lately though. Seems the evidence of brutality makes it a bit hard for them to support the Iraqis regime much. Now they are peaved at the Press for even being there it seems. And they are concerned for the innocent which indeed we all are.

                      Everyday.

the miniscule amount of protesters gets an inordinate amount of air time.

However, around here, we've started protesting the protesters.

They don't know what to do or say when we ask them basic questions like:

If Bush is there to steal Iraq's oil, then why didn't we do it after the first Gulf War?

Blank looks abound when you ask them that. They rarely think their positions through.

Because Bush Sr. understood that invading Iraq and taking out Saddam would have terrible political ramifications.

Now let me ask a question:
If we are so big on "democracy", how come we didnt install a democratic government in Kuwait, when we liberated it?

Actualy we were going to stay out of this political stuff so I am asking you to keep that to a minimum.

And Jack its not the same world as it was in Bush Sr's time and decision processes change. Sometimes you decide that the world political preceptions are no longer enough concern over the risks of doing nothing. I mean if the world already hates you just for being you then that is secondary to your safety. And it becomes a moot point in the process of deciding. And when you see that the people aposed are aposed for personal gain and could care less about you its hard to feel obligated to them. And you cannot trust them to assist you with your own concerns when its obvious they will do anything including jeaprodize your safety for money. Just because at that time and place it was a right decision to make does not mean that cannot change or will not change. And in those days it was assumed Saddam could be made to comply with UN pressure. By now that has become obvious he cannot nor was not being made too. Whatever the reasons were then, they are not the same now. That was 14 years ago.

Bush Sr. didn't have the UN mandate to remove SH at the time.

As for your question, probably because the "leaders" of Kuwait weren't systematically exterminating their own people for dissent, or any other reason.

The Kuwait government although oppressive by our standards isn't genocidal by any strech of the imagination.

They were and are our allies.

Other than France maybe, we usually aren't interested in removing the working, friendly government of an ally...

I'll risk cphillips wrath with one political post.

Anyone who has read this board knows that I'm not a fan of Bush diplomacy or buy the Iraqi Freedom angle (wasn't our primary motivation disarmament?). Still now that we are in we have to be committed to win it. What happened in Mogadishu inspired the likes of Bin Laden to thinking we are weak (and hence 9/11). I was reading the biographies of the POWs, MIAs, and those killed on the plane this morning and had to choke back tears. They all had plans that they wanted to fulfill when they returned. War is brutal...but now we MUST win it!
