Nope. The M203 fires a "high-low" pressure round. A small high pressure charge is ignited, which vents into a larger chamber beneath the projo. As this pressure builds, the round is pushed from the case and launched. Because it never reached full pressure (and can't), you get the familiar "bloop" noise. Range is limited to about 440m. There are abut a dozen different rounds for the M203, from smoke to anti-personnel and riot.Originally posted by devildog

The MK-19 uses a full pressure cartridge, just like any pistol or rifle round. It needs this full pressure to enable the recoil impulse to push the bolt back against the dual recoil springs. As the bolt moves back, a roller attached to an action arm moves along a serpentine track. The other end of the arm moves the feed mechanism over the top of the next round in the belt, locking it to itself. As the bolt goes forward against the springs, the action arm forces the next round into position to be fed into the chamber. This will continue at 375 rounds-per-minute until the triggers are released. Maximum range is 1440m. There is only one type of ammo for the MK-19, it is a dual purpose round that is both anti-armor and anti-personnel.
You cannot fire the MK-19 ammo in a M203 without blowing the weapon apart. You cannot fire M203 ammo in the MK-19, as it will not exit the tighter rifling of the bore.

Army is correct; they design the rounds so you cant accidentally cahmber one with the other. The MK-19 has like a 550 lb recoil; imagine THAT hitting into your shoulder.
I have an ACOG sight; by FAR the best combat sight used. We are STILL waiting for M-4s though...
Guard always gets the cool stuff last.

there is a link to a video of a Javelin Anti Tank missle that is pretty cool. One question I have is how do you aim that thing? It looks like the guy shooting it is aiming toward the sky. I realize the missle attacks from above, but shouldn't you aim at the target?Originally posted by Gitaroo Man
I was looking around to see what the MK-19 fired and I found this...thought it was pretty cool:

I saw another video CNN where the soldier looked like he was aiming straight at his target.
Where can I get one of these bad boys? I'm sick of the neighbor's car parking in front of my house...Comment

Javelin works similar to the way the Stinger does; recognize target, IFF, fire. You dont track the target; you identify it, then fire off target, the missile finds the target. Um, thats the easy explanation
