yes i said this just to make you mad, but thats pretty much what your implieing when you say "Young drivers stay away"

Ive actually never been in any close calls, except for one guy, an old man, he had a broken arm and hip, and was wearing those glasses over glasses. He drifted into my lane and scraped the side of my car. Im 17, never caused any accidents/ never came close to causing any accidents, thats because im a pretty defensive driver, the only time i speed and drive reckelssly is when i cant hit anyone, like in a empty parking lot=). MABE THIS IS because i had to buy my own car, and i want it to last, its an 1989 mercury grand marquis with a ford 5.0 litre v8=)

I'm glad that Sam is okay too. After seeing the marks left and seeing where he went into the trees...oh my goodness. I'm just glad that he is a wonderful driver.

Our car is quite a mess right now. It is very heartbreaking for me. I know that certain people will not understand that but 25 or so years waiting to get this car and to see it right now is just awful.

Andy13186 I cannot even believe that you felt the need to say what you did just to make Sam mad. You have alot to learn. You really should learn when it is a good time not to say something like that. Geesh!

I am concerned about some of the pains that Sam is having at this point and if it gets any worse believe me I will make him go get checked out.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts.

I glad to see everything is okay.. well as okay as it can be, under the circustances. Hey, you dont have to worry that much, its just a mustang jk I know what you're saying about young drivers, but it is true that not all young drivers are that way, just most.

yet another reason to drive a tank.

I was going to ask why you just didn't slam on the breaks and let them pass in front of you, but then I remembered some stuff. Since they were coming down an off ramp, theoretically they should be slowing down. Therefore the proper response would be to speed up.

Just thought I'd post that cause if I thought of it someone else would ask the same question.

It could have been MUCH, MUCH worse. I had something similar happen to me. A car was spinning across the freeway (interstate for those of you on the East Coast) as I was merging on from another freeway. The front of their car hit right at the front of my rear tire and it drove across the hood of their car. Since their car was spinning the trunk impacted with the undercarriage of my vehicle and over we went. Ended up on the roof sliding down the road. With my two year old niece screaming in the back seat. Fortunately she was in a car seat, we had our seat belts on and the vehicle (Jeep Cherokee) was sturdy. Did you know they have a built in roll bar? We were all okay, but very shaken up. My wife and niece when to separate hospitals, in separate ambulances. When I saw my wife last in the ambulance she was pleading with me not to leave her. I HAD to check on my niece in the other ambulance. I promised I would come back and went to check on my niece. They wouldn't even let me go back and tell my wife I had to stay with my niece. They said that if I got out they would leave without me. It was very traumatic for everyone.

Shartley, don't let them try to get away with not doing the job correctly. MAKE them do it right. Also, see a doctor.

Sam, glad to hear you're ok. Sorry to hear about your mustang, though. I hope the insurance company doesn't mess around, and that you can get the car back to the condition it was in before the accident.

To andy13186, when I was 18 (in '92), I had a major accident, where I totaled my '78 Olds Cutlass Supreme. It was my fault, as I was driving too fast for conditions (although at the time, I felt as though I was at a safe speed). This past year, I was hit head on by an 18 year old girl who fell asleep at the wheel, totalling my S-10 Blazer. Unfortunately, both of these accidents I listed were caused by inexperience and recklessness. Also unfortunate, is the the fact that many (although not all) young drivers are both inexperienced AND reckless. Both of these conditions (usually) go away with time, but many times not before an accident.

I think the Check Engine light should be renamed... "Pay $300" light is more like it. :) Maybe they should start installing a bill slot (like on vending machines) in the dash - that way whenever the engine light comes on, you can just pay the car directly instead of taking it to a mechanic.

shartley i hope you get the money you deserve for the damages, but we all know insurance companys their the devils creation... they try to screw you over over charge you. they also jack up your rates when you actually need them! thats the stupiedest thing its like they dont get enough money to cover you that they have to charge you for it twice or they have to jack up your health insurance when its more likely for you to use their service! god i hate insurance co.s
