I'd love nothing more then to pull 80,000 of the 100,000 troops out of Germany and put them in Iraq (either to bolster forces or send troops home) and move the additional 20,000 to Poland, a real ally of ours.

Germany does nothing but kevetch about our troops being there, I say we move them

Why watch the debate at all?

I mean come one, how can you consider any debate legitimate when Carol Mosley Braun (Drug dealer's mother) and Al Sharpton are considered "serious" candidates. Braun couldn't win re-election in her home state and now she thinks she is a force to be reckoned with? Sharpton has more judgments filed against him then Enron. All he is is talk!

If the Dems are hoping that General Clark will be their savior, they had better think again. Time did an expose on him. He could have started WWIII in Kosovo!!! If the British General he ordered to expell Russian Soldiers from an airport had not invoked the "Red Card" and refused the order, we could have seen WWIII. Anyone wonder why he was moved out of the Army so soon after the "Kosovo" success story? Reading about Clark, I would sooner vote for Sharpton!

Let's tread lightly here. If you have REAL comments to be made, OK. Don't post personal rhetoric.

...or I will shut this one down too.

              Okay dokey!!

I think that the field at these debates is far too crowded. A debate can not function with so many participants. Their voices get lost in the shuffle!!

The presidential debates work so well because at most, you have 3 candidates.

The field should be narrowed before the debates begin!

                I agree with deadeye.

With all 9 of them up there they end up bsaically saying the same thing. There's only so many ways you can phrase the party message before it becomes the same

                  Another thing I forgot about

All the candidates were asked for the favorite song. They mostly had typical answers. Joe Lieberman said Born in the USA and the crowd booed.

All the answers were cheesy. That was the one that drew booes.

My suspicion is becaues the hard left of the Democratic party (where most of the audience seems to have come from, it is afterall a Democratic event) support open boarders and allowing an unlimited number of immigrants, legal and otherwise. And that to say Born in the USA was a great offense to them.

That's my theory, and I can't prove it, but I think I'm right.

If the current trend continues then the Democrats have pinned themselves into a corner. It seems a poor idea to me to bank on a current trend reversing itself and staying reversed for the next 12 months

As for Iraq, it frankly is going pretty well everywhere but in Central Iraq, where the insurgency is. However, with no super powers backing the insurgents they will ventually just run out of guys and guns. It's already begeinning to happen. What CNN doesn't show us when it reports on Iraq is that for every Amrican death there are 15 dead insurgents and hundreds of weapons captured. They simply won't be able to slug it out forever. The fact that it's been a week since an American died is extremely positive news. Now, the recontruction has not gone extremely well in Central Iraq and I can't for the life of me figure out why nobody planned it better, but in a year I can't imagine that ZERO progress will have been made. A year is a long time.

Oh, and one other thing I forgot to mention from watching the debate. There were a lot of protesters in the audience, and every once in a while of them would pop up and shout something. I could never really understand what they were saying, but Al Sharpton took every opportunity to jump in take the spotlight for a moment. Sharpton is many things, but a poor orator he is not.
I'll give you everything (Mainly because I don't follow any of this, nor do I really care, merely enjoy debate, though this isn't much of one.) except American casualties, I believe we had one today and one yesterday, maybe more.

We had two today, which is always a terrible tragedy.

That doesn't mean the situation hasn't improved, becase it has, but it's also far from perfect

And you should follow it and care, to some extent or another. I think everyone should make at least some effort of being informed of what goes on in their country and how their nation behaves in the world.

State no solutions, propose no new ideas, but criticize anyone who has any ideas - good or bad.

Politics... is getting annoying, frankly I'm down to the point if it does not effect paintball, gun ownership, or take more in taxes (hmm... that tax plan involved a tax cut) I no longer care.

Vote Libetarian... force the federal government to follow the restrictions in the Constitution (and don't tell me they do). FYI - I state this half hypocritically, I support a strong federal military in a situation that dictates the ability to present force anywhere in the world as current technology requires. However, I am concerned with the lack of states rights/responsibilities left.

well, I'll be voting in this election so I'm actually paying attention for once. I faded in and out of the debates because really, it became a circus. The only thing missing was the Ragin Cajun, atleast he doesn't reiterate constantly.
