kind things about us as well.
Pease give an example of one of Cretien's offending remarks.
remember as a citizen of another country I might not have recognized the offence
At lunch I'll search for some quotes. There have been more then a few in the couple of years, not only from him but from other sources. None of the exact working remains in my head, but I'll look and post later
How does our "illegal immigration" actually effect you?
Canadians do not admit people to, or prevent people from
going to the US, US citizens have that job.
In a couple of ways. First, due to the proximity of our countries Canada is a very enticing staging area for terrorist activities. Also, due to the rather porus nature of our shared boarder it is not difficult for an illegal to penetrate our shared boarder. While it is our responsibility to patrol our border (and we do) it sure would be easier if Canada wasn't an open door to all kinds of folks.
The Health care system is a differant matter but then
we are often told by US citizens that ours is no good,
which I know from personal experience is not true.
I have never personally experienced the single payer health care system but I wouldn't want to. One of the very important reasons why it works in Canada (to any extent, and rational people can disagree to what extent it works) is the proximaty of American companies that do research. The single payer program stifles innovation in the field of medicine. That cirsumstance is mitigated by your next door neighbor doing all of the innovating for you. I would not want the system here, because we have no such luxury.
