AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
It stirred up emotions in people, thus the band sucks..
"What we have to accomplish at this time is all the more clear: relentless criticism of all existing conditions, relentless in the sense that the criticism is not afraid of its findings and just as little afraid of the conflict with the powers that be."

Like it was said earlyer in this thread, their just taking on issues that people actualy deal with today, theirs enought "oh, I want you girl" songs out their. and anarchy in the UK doesn't realy apply anymore.
they just did it to get the transfer reaction i think. they wrote a song about suicide and the seriousness of that topic transfers into the feeling of the music. people like to see other people in a new lite all the time. its moronic that they would choose that topic for that reason. thats just what i think cause i could be way off base but i dont think i am.(sorry im in a busness class and its annoying sometimes)
bands like slipnot and kron have been singing about killing themselves for years. GC probibly knew somebody who killed themselves or just felt strongly enough about it to write a song about it. It's good to have one song out their about NOT killing yourself, amist the millions of heavymetal songs telling you to kill yourself.
slipknot and korn and shadows fall and canible courpse all write about what they feel. i really wouldnt wanna feel getin ****ed with a knife though. anyways yea that coulc be waht happened.

Wow you don't get out much, if you only know two people who know floggy molly.
And hating GC is the cool thing to do, personally i don't like them, but I have nothing against them. Although i have heard stories of them being a**holes.
And that list of "Real Punk Bands" only half of them or so are "Punk".
GC has soldout. The only reason that they are getting radio play on and MTV play is the proof. Its a trend Ive noticed. When a band sells out to a major label they are automatically circulated into the mainstream so the label can make more money by playing off people's tastes. The whole art and meaning of true good music is no longer there, just trying to make more money is the deal now. It truly is sad to see, but this is pop culture mixed with capitalism. Oh yeah and I don't see why people are being so shaken up about these lyrics. Can you say sell out band #182? Blink 182s "Adam's Song"=GCs "Hold On".
By definition, any band that performs music in exchange for money is not punk. There are NO punk band that have EVER been on MTV, been in a major record store, or even been on the radio. If they have, then they have punk roots, or become mainstream punk, or pop-punk.
The best punk band is the one you never hear of. The guys who bust their asses every night just to get by. The guys that play music because it EXPRESSES something about themselves, not just for aspirations of becoming rich and famous.
Selling out is when one of the bands described above deciedes they want to make money. They want to be on MTV and the radio... so they take the money and put "punk" songs out there for everyone to hear.
Alot of Good Charlottes songs MIGHT have worked when they were "underground"... Like lifestyles of the rich and famous, well now THEY are rich and famous, so WTF are they singing about? OR Girls and Boys? You call yourself punk, but you play "Girls don't like boys, girls like cars and money" YOU HAVE NICE CARS AND LOTS OF MONEY!!! Whats that say about your band? A bunch of hypocrits, all of them.
But of course I don't know everything about punk music... I don't know where to draw the line. By my definiton, Bad Religion and The Clash (Two of my favorite bands) aren't punk. Of course they are, but like I said... I don't know...
Now going in the sig: "I hated Good Charlotte before it was the cool thing to do"
Hey Zero, how much did that Chipley cost ya?
