I have a PC, my father got a Mac a few months ago. I went to visit him for the weekend, and decided that this would be the perfect time to test out this defferent computer. I had a mac waay back in the day like...maybe a model or 2 above the Apple 1 (haha)...and hated it!...i spent 3 hours on my dad's mac that first day, ( it was an Emac) and absolutely fell in love. Now, I do graphic design, still on my PC...and I have gotten the "blue screen of death" more times than i can count! I want a Mac soo bad, but, they are expensive, there is no denying that. Of course, if I bought a PC that could do the things that I need, it would be expensive as well. I'm going to college soon, so a laptop is starting to look pretty good...especially the powerbook...simply a beautiful machine....one question, does anyone know of any plans for a Powerbook G5?...

Alls I have to say is that if you have not actually sat down and used a Mac in the last two years, then you have no right to form ANY opinions about what a Mac can and cant do. Noone cares if you hated OS9. OSX (Darwin) ownes any flavor of 'doze. All I hear is little gamer kids whining about how much Macs suck. Shut up! The Mac was not, and is not designed to be a premier gaming system! Don't belittle Apple's systems with such petty complaints. I have not heard one good, substantiated reason as to why Mac's are inferior to 'doze boxes.

I can SSH into my G5, try that on XP. Even my AlphaStation will own your 'doze box. Some of you really need to get a clue about what you are talking about before you start spouting rubbish. Clue - spend less time talking trash on the forums, spend more time educating yourself.

And yes, I do work in the industry, and yes, I do have several 'doze boxes, linux boxes, as well as Macs. They rank in this order for serious work related computing:

      1. Mac
      2. Linux
      3. 'doze

      Every day, any time.

Actually, you mean the add on software called Virtual PC, (owned by microsoft) that happens to be slow as dirt compared to native OSX apps.

It doesn't run windows, as it emulates a x86 computer, so you can run any x86 OS in a little sandbox. Not just windows. Damn handy stuff.

As for serious work? the OS X Macs owns all. Play your games on a windows box.

Interesting idea. An expert in Windows vs. an expert in OS X.

Which do you think gets paid more?

            Depends on the environment...

A 'nix admin who might use a Mac certaintly gets paid more than a 'doze admin.
