AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
I snagged two fishing rods(Ugly sticks bigwaters)at the beach. One needed a new line guide(5 minutes of work), the other had some paint on it. Eitherway, now I have two more nice rods to play with.
My neighbor found a 17" LCD monitor that had a crack in the plastic case. Works perfectly otherwise.
Best find around here though was an 16' Jonboat with a 15 hp engine at the dump. It had a hole near the motor mount from what looks like a run in with another boat. Needless to say, the guy repaired it for less than $2 in materials and now has a 16' Jonboat.
Someone was giving away a 20ft or so boat with an inboard motor, complete with trailor, outdrive and everything. It was in pretty rough shape, but I would have taken it if someone didn't get there first
every year when the local colleges (Kansas and Missiouri university)let out for the summer my brother and i go dumpster diving, we find some good stuff, my brother found a really awesome digital camera and i found some brand new timberland size 12 boots. A lot of other stuff too.
When I used to work at a self storage company I would find the coolest stuff. Sometimes when people couldn't pay their rent, they would break in at night, get all their stuff, and leave. But sometimes, they would forget stuff. Thats when I would get to go and pick through the stuff. Among my bounty was:
Box of cigars, unopened and in pristine condition
Bunch of Disney movie posters (Little Mermaid 2!)
A couch
A chair that I still have
A really wierd looking chair that's low to the ground, you sit on it and put your legs back and lean forward....possibly Oriental??
Coffee Maker
Tea Maker
Ice Cream Machine
A bunch of people's diary's
After a very long search for a riding lawnmower that I could play with, I finally was able to buy a 15 or 17 horsepower one, running, etc. for only $50. Haven't received it yet, but it should be enough to get the Hovercraft project off the ground (pun intended).
I built my entire paintball field out of garbage. I've seen tons of couches and tables and stuff being thrown out. I also like going to garage sales, but only the day after it over. People will usually either give the stuff away for free or for cheaper than before.
