It doesnt suprise me at all that the z06 lost, i just saw one get smoked by a srt-4 this weekend at the track. the z06 really isnt that fast considering it starts at 53k. Its just an old boy toy, not really meant for racing. If a little 2.4L FWD with maybe 3k in upgrades can blow it away (and i mean SERIOUSLY put the hurts on it) for less than half the cost, its apparently not that performance focused.

Don't get me wrong, the z06 is a nice car and i might drive one when im 50, but i would never take a stock vette for a serious race search.

It sucks that happend, I would suggest taking your racing to the track. Less legal risk and more satisfying i think. just do your betting discreetly Bracket racing is also major fun!

That video is nice. That's the reason I prefer imports. It reminds me of a video that I saw a while back of a Nissan Sentra (modded of course) beating badly a Dodge Viper. You could hear the ohh's and ahh's and heckles in the video.

remember the old fox body mustangs? 5l? Those thing were around 225hp stock and weighted in at 2800lbs. Those where msutangs. With the addition of a mild blower and a set of 3:73 gears I bet they would smoke a z-06.

Course all this import talk is bologna. An import wouldn't stand a change once that thing hit it's power curve in 3rd. not to mension... how many imports can do 140mph?

But we are all discussing additions - what if you let Calloway Motor Sports "play" with that ZO6 or Lingefelter. Your comparing cars with specific upgrades taht make them less streetable to a car that was meant for the street, not the track. The ZO6 given the upgrades to make it into that "track" car becomes just that.

If you want somthing fast from a roll get a Toyota Supra Twin Turbo. Those things are GODS at high speed. Ive seen one walk away from a bored stroked and supercharged trans am like it was standing still.

Also seen one walk away from a CBR 900 Bike like it wasent moving. Those things get quick FAST. 1000hp off stock internals is not uncommon.

A whole list of them on stock internals... and no internal engine modifications.

My 4 door luxury sedan can hit 140... Takes a good long stretch of road to do it but it will.

id like to know how much hp your wrx has or how much you think it has. You can put as much money into them import cars as you people like but I still prefer good 'ol american cars. The vette prally had a stupid auto trans. in it and the guy just cant drive period considering they come stock wit 405hp and he just dont know how to use it. Wish the race was in the daylight or dusk so you could see more. Just more proof that chevrolet just sucks in general.

Someone said something bout the 5.0 Mustangs, the 5L as a motor in general just kinda sucked, the new 4.6 is smaller and puts out more HP id go for any new mustang with a 4.6 or the older 65-70's with a 289 in it over a 302 anyday. u should race svt cobras an stuff (only '03/'04's) cuz they have almost as much power as a z06 but smaller motor 4.6 .vs 5.7 but fords usually are faster then junky *** chevys. (if ya cant tell I am a little biased to ford over chevy)

The WRX has a stage 4 equivalant kit in it... I puts down solid mid 12's in the 1/4 no excuses. He lost period. And he was a weenie cause he didnt pay up.

Read up... The WRX can be put in the solid 12's with $3000 worth in go fast parts.

The LS1 is a far superior motor than the modular 4.6 im sorry thats just the case. All Naturally aspirated and SVT variants of the 4.6 modular have fell WAY short of the LS1.

The only ford modular that can even hold a candle to an LS1 is the supercharged DOHC cobra motor... which is a very good motor.

im just saying you put 3000 into a decent american car (03/04 svt cobra, z06, etc) is will be past the 12's considering the svt's stock are mid-ish 13's

as much money as you people put into these ricers I dont see the point, they sound terrible (unless u like the angry weedwacker sound) still are relativly slow, and just looks ugly. I like to laugh at all the morons that put big mufflers and other ugly crap on there cars, mainly spoilers on front wheel drive cars, its hilarious.

The old 5.0...man I hate those things. Im sorry Ford and Chevy during that time really weren't putting out performance motors due to the oil embargo, smog, etc. Remember the IROC Camaros? LOL!!!

I can tell you a lot of imports that can do 140. Every top model from Nissan, Toyota, and Honda can do 140. If you count the European market as "import", well then...Ferrari, Zonda, Pagani, Maserati, Lotus, Mercedes, Bugati, Ducati, Porshe, Audi, Puegot, Ashton Martin, Jaguar...need I say more?

In 1990 the IROC-Z, Formula, Trans Am, and the GTA could be had with the following

                          9.3:1

And the fastest factory camaro (yes, it beats the new LS1's stock for stock) the 89 TTA (Turbo Trans Am)
                          LC2 V6

Keep posting guys this is funny.

Anything can be fast with know-how. But a stock Rex beating a Z06. Come on now, a high 13 sec car competing with a mid low 12 sec car. No.

Now a modded Rex can do the job. My roomate is a rex driver (Mattseg on www.NASIOC.com) and his is pretty damn quick but it needs to be tuned. Those stock puters suck. He's got pretty much the same as the guy in the video and I'm pretty damn sure with a good driver (he's better at turns) would put the hurt on a Z06 with a crappy driver.

Here's the thing, on the street AWD will hurt a street tired RWD high torque car. Especially if you can't launch. The downside is AWD likes to blow up and hurts you from a roll. It's all in what you want to do. Who cares what other people say, as long as they're looking at your tail lights.

                              Here's a good 4,000 worth of mods for a LS1.

                              Cam
                              Headers
                              Nitrous
                              LS1 Edit
                              Some rear suspension
                              slicks

Say hi to 10'2 at sea level.

If you get a good driver in a RWD car... well that fishtailing in a RWD car, when controlled is an assett... the problem is there is a big difference between a good driver and most drivers.
