oh and one last thing. 1DE, he was not chosen because he was the better candidate. It doesn't matter wheter or not someone is the better candidate if they when the popular election.

Actually that is exactly what being elected means. It means you connected to the people better then your opponent. It meant you mobilized your base better.

It does not mean you are the better person/leader. See the First Bush/Clinton race (1992) for proof of that.

1DE yea i do think your clown cus you are ammusing. However i was referign to ur brief disdcuion earlier about teachers. I assumed you meant it in a sarcastic manner, therefore i wrote it off as a jest. If you meant it literally then im sorry for the assumption.

And also 1DE im not dissagreeing with you about the presidential election thing, we are both saying the same thing but diffrenly. If a candidate is more personable, charismatic, and gets his image out there with at least some positive jargon associated he could win. But no where in that does it make anyshowing to the quality, intelligence or ability ofthe candidate. But im just restating what you said which is what i said and soo on and so forth etc. etc.

I would think at this point in you're life you'd realize zits don't even matter anyway... I honestly wouldn't even mind if I had zits. Assess the situation... you're arguing with a 15 year old, whats wrong with you?

there's a flash video about how the republicans rigged the florida election somewhere, but since I don't know wether it is fact or fiction, I'm not even going to take the time to find it.

EsPo, you are quite correct in some cases. Like how Bush connects to stupid people in America. They don't want long explanations of what the leaders are going to do, they want to see hateful ads about the other candidate (and that is exactly what Bush is doing). He's running ads that completely twist Kerry's words and platform (like the whole 900 billion (million?) tax increase, which is complete bull). Kerry is doind this also, but much less than Bush. Stupid people don't want to see some guy saying "I want to increase aid to ____ by 50 millipn dollars, and cut the budget of the Dep. of Ag. by 3%....". They want to see ads taht say "Kerry is a lying sob that voted for the war in Iraq and then voted against funding. He's raising taxes by $____ which will cost you a lot of money. He once hit a squirrel in his SUV and then left it suffering in the middle of the road."

The fact is, Kerry is taking a more intelligent and peaceful approach to the upcoming election (well, so far he is), and this is what may cause him to lose. The stupid people hold the majority, and stupid people like Bush.

and 1de, just because there are other countries that will pollute the air more doesn't mean we can pollute it too. Not taht I'm saying we should have signed the Kyoto thing, but maybe Bush should take steps to improving emission standards in the US, and set an example for the rest of the world to follow. Instead of pushing the country towards more fuel-effiecient hybrid cars and Ethanol, he's instead taking the easy way out and pressing us to dig in Alaska. Oil will eventually start to run out in the next 10 years or so. When this happens, will we be the ones hurting, or will we be ready for this? This is not just one sided though, because as far as I know, Kerry hasn't said much about the issue either. The one who steps up to the plate first may have an advantage in the election.

Maksimus. My respect for you has shot through the roof. if anyone here is "guilty" of making logical statements in this thread it is you. I agree with you 100%. If you want t post on politics either post a fact, post an opinion and back it with some fact and be prepared to possibly BE WRONG . Or just dont post at all.

So, I am goign to try and bring the thread back around to what is important, current McCarthy style tactics. WHat it amounts to is first getting a part of the public to believe that a certain type of person is diabolicly evil(ie. communists as McCarthy used). Once that is achieved an unusual amount of paranoia is achieved it only gets worse from there. A person capitalizes on this paranoia and starts to make his opponents out to be "insert liberal/conservative/terrorists/communist/fascist/etc. here". Theprocess is propelled forward by people slandering their openets and furthering the plague ike opinion.

This thread is a perfect example. You know who you are some people on this thread have defammed one another with no justification. To me this is an example of McCarthism(sp?). Im nto going to drop names but it is clear that this is the way things are, hopefully it can soon stop. Perhaps the tactics used by McCarthy back then were what has started this chain reaction of abuse of fear. Regardless of that, I think everyone can agree Shame upon anyone who participates in these tactics.
