Is the sence that 'America will do it' a compliment, or is it a sarcastic remark that since we are the world power we will have our hands in managing the disaster since we [Westerners] are donating all the relief? And we would be offended if the affected nations ran it themselfes?

I honestly don't care what people's motivations are for donating.

As long as they are donating, and people are being helped.

Honestly if the only reason somebody donates is to make themselves look better, or to feel better than fine.

I got yelled at for saying I personally wouldn't make any effort to raise a dime or send any money over there. I don't care.

Until we get some respect from the rest of the world (which I don't see happening) I don't see why should try to help them.

Seems as though some of you are saying if America was donating this anonymously we wouldn't be doing it. I don't think that is true, I do believe the country would still be donating money, just maybe not as much. If Europe hadn't called our country skimpy, they might not be giving quite as much as they are now, but definatly giving at least some.

Also, alot of they money is coming from private sources, do you really think all the donations that people add onto their Amazon orders are just to make their country look better?

no no dont get me wrong, private donations are awsome and genuine but a governments donation is self serving if you ask me, it may have some good intendent but i think its overshadowed by one upman ship. (if thats even a word)
