I don't want this to turn into a religious thread or anything, because it would then get closed but imho organized religion in general is more or less brainwashing. Also, I never said I didn't respect him for his decision. It takes alot of balls to walk away from a band as big as Korn just because you found religion.

You turned this into a religious thread the moment you pressed "submit". Using terms like "brainwashing" didn't help your "i didn't want to.." statement.

This thread should be closed as you wanted it to be about religion from your first statement and your follow up statement just backs up that view.

You may not understand this point yet in your life, but someones view of God is VERY, VERY important to them and when you make careless comments about brainwashing and such, you end up offending your fellow AOer's that do hold strong views on this matter.

No, I didn't turn it into a religious thread as soon as I hit submit. I was expressing my opinion on a band losing a guitarest. Just because his loss has to do with religion, and I happened to comment on it, dosn't mean I wanted the thread to become religious. As for the title, I saw it used on another messgae board and thought it was funny.

Exactly. And your expressed opinion happens to offend many people on these forums and will probably start an argument. I don't doubt that this thread will be closed.

Seems like nobody cares about the actual meaning of the thread anyway, so really I couldn't care less.

Anyone that tries to get others to believe in their way of thinking is guilty of trying to brainwash someone. I personally would love to punch the idiot that started brainwashing people into thinking political correctness was a good thing right in the mouth.

you clearly don't know how great being a Christian really is.

The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves. 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Its not like he's leaving music, if you actually care about him as an artist you'll keep listening to whatever he decides to play now.

A musician... in America... chose to pursue something he feels is more important than sex drugs and rock'n'roll?!?!?! Say it ain't so!!!

                              Props to him!

Well if the topic is that this guy is leaving a band to follow his faith, that is not that surprising. Without getting "religious", people of strong faith usually do things like that to follow the example set by the leader of their faith.

Things like money, sex, drugs and music may seem like heaven to some of us, but in reality-non religous speaking, it is usually hell. Why do rich, young, powerful musicians blow their heads off with shotguns, or kill themselves slowly with drugs? It is to hide the pain they feel. Sorry, but things of the world will never be able to heal some of the pain that has been inflicted.

Only God can do that. People that have seen that happen first hand get offended by comments about brainwashing. Brainwashing doesn't change world history in three years, only God does.
