The mario theme ISNT that hard.
He also used a sythn for the 8-bit sounds.
                Believe me.
                Easy song.

I have to agree with everyone here.
                That list is complete BS.
Hendrix was an influential player, but by far he was not the best.
What about Ywngue? Alexi Laiho? Petrucci?

Billy Corgan is far from being a 'talented' or 'skilled' guitarist.
From the CD's I owned, The best he could msuter were pinch harmonincs.
Turns out later they were added, he didn't even do them himself.

                    Its a crappy list.

But as far as whoever complained about Jack White from the White Stripes, I saw them live years ago at a small club, and he is a VERY talented guitarist. I was extremely impressed with his ability.

There are some guitar players whose skill doesn't show up as much in their music, but if you see them live they really show off and shine. John Mayer is an example, he just plays simple rhythms in most of his songs, but if you see him live, you find out he is a pretty good blues guitarist.

I think Carlos Santana should be moved up a few spaces, hes awesome. But im dissapointed that Tom Morello is only 26 and that Noodles from the offspring isn't in there! I don't think the list was done entirely on skill, i think publicity also had a say in that as kurt Cobain is higher than Tom Morello and Tom has alot more skill.

i think this is the only thing I have ever agreed with quik on.

jimmy was number one IN HIS TIME.

there are far better guitarists now adays.

                        steve vai
                        joe stump

                        just to name a few.

oh, and kurt cobain... dont get me wrong, I am a fan of his and his work.. but as a guitarist.. he isnt all that great. certainly not greater than some of the people listed above him.

muz is right. this is just a popularity contest. not a whos who amongst the best guitarists.

I wasn't a fan of his, but wasn't there an 80's guitarist named Steve Vai or something like that? At least that's all I remember about him....or maybe he sucked. I didn't see him on the list.

***woops...didn't see jdev's post. I googled steve vai....he should've been on the list.

Its not a crappy list, its an opinion of what how many people. I imagine if you take everyones opinion youll come up with something like that. For instance maybe your not a fan of Rage so you dont give Tom Morrello much credit, But hell i could claim they are my favorite band and throw him at 1. It also depends on how your judging them, how catchy there music is, unique style, ability to create, what time htere were making music. Its hard to campare styles of different generations since we all like something quite often very different. I think many will agree that Jimi should be near the top maybe not number one, but most people will have him top 5 and thats why overall hes number 1. Everyone loves him. Come on guys, its a poll of opinion.
