Its not a crappy list, its an opinion of what how many people. I imagine if you take everyones opinion youll come up with something like that. For instance maybe your not a fan of Rage so you dont give Tom Morrello much credit, But hell i could claim they are my favorite band and throw him at 1. It also depends on how your judging them, how catchy there music is, unique style, ability to create, what time htere were making music. Its hard to campare styles of different generations since we all like something quite often very different. I think many will agree that Jimi should be near the top maybe not number one, but most people will have him top 5 and thats why overall hes number 1. Everyone loves him. Come on guys, its a poll of opinion.

I can't think of any serious music listener who would rate Cobain as being in the top 15 guitar players of all time. Good musician, yes, but not a guitar god.

All the writers of that list did is choose some safe oldies, toss in some of the usual favorites, and add a few edgy choices to show their readers that they are "hip."

I can think of a hundred people who've never heard a Hendrix song, but from word of mouth from other people they'll tell you he was the greatest guitarist ever.

Billy Corgan is far from being a 'talented' or 'skilled' guitarist.
From the CD's I owned, The best he could msuter were pinch harmonincs.
Turns out later they were added, he didn't even do them himself.

You have a good point here, but it takes a good guitarist to have a succsessful band, especially when is a trio. And for a band that is known for CREATING Grunge, possibly the biggest music movement, Id say id rank Kurt up there. And once again this is how the list was made, all opinion, Maybe simply more people share this opinion then others. There is no list that will satisfy everyone.

Since when has popularity had anything to do with talent? For every crap band that sells a ton of albums, 100 good bands with good musicians go unrecorded. Believing that only good musicians sell albums is naive.
