Well, I know I don't speak for the paintball public as a whole but I haven't sold an Ion in months(I have a few left in stock I'd really like gone). I've moved ALOT of Spyders and quite afew Tippmanns. The Mini is still a big seller and Bob Longs are picking up steadily But the Ion and SP are not moving well at all anymore(Actually Planet Eclipse is kind of slowing as well I guess people are sick of the same stuff over and over). I have no intention of bringing in the new SP markers I'll order them if people ask but I don't really plan on that happening. The Proto SLG may be popular and the New Spyder RX markers will be huge but people at least around here have realised that SP stuff is crap and don't even ask to try it anymore.

The Spyder VS and soon RX series are a billion times better quality and better performing than the Ion could ever hope to be, and they're cheaper. Alot of people just don't try them because "Spyders are lowend" they don't realise the difference the Balence valve system makes. Heck you can get a VS2 with a Tadao board for the price of an Ion and the Spyder is better in every way except it weighs a little more.

wait, what defines a tourney marker?
Technically every gun is a tourney marker. You can go play a tourney with it cant you? He never said they were high end. Hell, the fact that you even insinuated that they were insults to high end markers makes me doubt your sanity. But they are trying to say this whole "Tournament Speed without the Tournament Price" a lot.

i agree with bryceeden, if i EVER were to start out with a $200 budget for a gun, my first choice would have been a VS2, not only because Spyders are easy to maintain, but it looks like a high-class starter gun than can shoot very well for its price. unfortunately, i walked into the world of mags the first time i played, and i just cant shoot anything else

i disliked smart parts from the beginning, and i will forever after everything that is happened.

Sadly there are new people that enter the game and get sold on the hype of it all at the low cost....and a lot of shop sales people just perpetuate the hype.

I would think/hope that the people who have been playing for awhile wouldn't buy into this type of stuff.

Myself...if I were looking for a backup/loner marker that I could get for "cheap"...I would go with Tippmann A-5 for mech and Proto SLG for electro. But I own a Mag....so no need for a backup

Right. Now that Dye made the SLG(sear-based), I wonder how they will deal with saying that sears are bad.

actually the milsim version of the vibe SP-1??? is actually a fun little toy. but thats about it, and the body is terrible! all the rails can be taken off, so its basically a normal vibe body with tac rails mounted on it.

                  still a fun toy though

also, the boards on the vibe, and tac version are FAR different from the ION boards. just an fyi. otherwise its just an ion where you can remove the bolt out the back.

if i had 200 for a marker, i'd actually go with the spyder trilogy, i love that gun. don't know why. not as much as my e-mag though. that is just true love.
"It's major moving part is a bolt". really, as opposed to what? in any gun it's the biggest moving part!

"most other electro-pneumatic guns are unable to do that"-talking about using HPA or Co2. i wonder if that is an inference to mags?

i like sear markers more than pneu guns. and how do you lose a sear? it's got a pin holding it in. if you lose a sear, that means you are taking the gun apart. and if you are taking a gun apart, you can lose any part just as easily. i would rather lose a sear over an air fitting. it's bigger, easier to find again.

                      btw, vibe > vibe.

I'll give SP credit for one thing, they know how to market. I foresee this think selling big numbers, that price is deep into the intro marker territory.

Yeah its going to be junk and its going to break, but people new in the sport don't know that, all they hear is buzz words like "law enforcement" and "low pressure", thats all it takes.

                        Just my 2 cents.

Especially when you consider that Dye and SP are in bed together. You would think that SP would be a bit more careful what they say....

Out of curiousity. IS this this the same internal design as the Ion? Is this the cheaper version of it?
Does it have eyes? Is it using that same weird solenoid?

The stampede is over. There are plenty of cheap guns out there. The game is expensive to play, and its a recurring cost. You buy the gear once (Theoretically).

The problem is that the game can be disappointing ESPECIALLY when you shell out $100-$200 a DAY to play. How many people try paintball and then either dont come back, or get into it and quickly move on to other things?

This is nothing more than a panic move by Smart Parts to lure potential first time buyers in. Problem is, too many of them dont last very long.

Ive only gotten in to the sport the last few years...I feel lucky I am not a kid trying it out. I cant imagine a kid having to ask for $100 every few weeks to go play. When I was a kid there was no way my parents would have shelled out that kind of $$$
